timjim stop pretending you're british again

publicastration 12-08-2010 05:23 PM

authentic means the dish is prepared using the traditional ingredients and cooking styles that were used centuries or w/e ago

msg didn't exist

P13 12-08-2010 05:24 PM

yeah I know but we were talking about what ravioli is, and originally ravioli didn't have meat in it, so then its defined that way
so authentic ravioli doesn't have meat in it.

adb 12-08-2010 05:25 PM
authentic means the dish is prepared using the traditional ingredients and cooking styles that were used centuries or w/e ago

biggest reason I couldn't give a FUCK about authentic foods

tradition can suck my dick sideways

publicastration 12-08-2010 05:25 PM

yeah fuck culture

emilyyy 12-08-2010 05:25 PM

this argument

P13 12-08-2010 05:26 PM

brent's taste buds have been destroyed by chemicals I guess because stuff with MSG in it tastes gross as fuck

authentic recipes almost always taste better than other versions

adb 12-08-2010 05:27 PM
yeah fuck culture
yes, it forms our identity

I couldn't give a shit about it

Anglachel 12-08-2010 05:27 PM

its not that adb doesnt care about culture he just doesnt care about definitions

and arbitrarily defining things to suit yourself is what makes adb so stupid

adb 12-08-2010 05:29 PM

definitions are open to debate

if you think they're factual you're a dumbass

P13 12-08-2010 05:29 PM
its not that adb doesnt care about culture he just doesnt care about definitions

should be posted on the front of R&M for all new users
authentic recipes almost always taste better than other versions
depends

food made with FRESH ingredients and cooked properly always tastes the best

sometimes a spin on a traditional food can be delicious

publicastration 12-08-2010 05:30 PM
definitions are open to debate

definitions are open to debate

if you think they're factual you're a dumbass
great tell me why 'factual' doesnt now mean 'please rape my face'

YOU CANT ITS OPEN TO DEBATE I CAN CALL IT WHATEVER I WANT

you fucking tool

adb 12-08-2010 05:32 PM
you fucking tool
projecting
..............................................

what
haven't taken freshman english eh?

Anglachel 12-08-2010 05:32 PM

still waiting for adb to justify his faith in logic and science

without arbitrarily redefining logic

telling me im callign you names doesnt change the fact that you dont know what youre talking about

please kill yourself

P13 12-08-2010 05:33 PM

definitions aren't up to debate
they aren't static either, they change gradually when words are used differently
depends

food made with FRESH ingredients and cooked properly always tastes the best

sometimes a spin on a traditional food can be delicious
yeah I agree

its just if you are looking at traditional dishes, the original recipe will usually taste better than if you exchange ingredients or something. at least to me

adb 12-08-2010 05:34 PM
they change gradually when words are used differently
so they're open to debate, in other words

Anglachel 12-08-2010 05:35 PM

no thats not what it means at all

oh wait
anything can mean anything its all open to debate
so i guess it does mean that now right

publicastration 12-08-2010 05:35 PM
haven't taken freshman english eh?
um I'm halfway to a bachelor's and i have never heard anything like that

P13 12-08-2010 05:35 PM

no because most definitions are set when the word is made

any alterations are informal, which debates are not

publicastration 12-08-2010 05:36 PM

Definitions mean different things SUBJECTIVELY, to different people, but that doesn't mean the actual definition changes, it means people make their own definitions to fit their personal view, which isn't necessarily correct.

Anglachel 12-08-2010 05:37 PM

calling on subjectivity means you're an idiot

P13 12-08-2010 05:38 PM

why don't people sell plain desks? like just legs and a top?
fuck I'm going to have to build one :\

@luc
well sometimes it gets to the point where it isn't a big deal to change the definition. An example is "awful", it wasn't a negative adjective before and now it is.

Anglachel 12-08-2010 05:39 PM

definitions will change to fit the vernacular but adbs definitions of shit dont belong to the vernacular anyways

adb 12-08-2010 05:39 PM

because arguments on the internet are formal

publicastration 12-08-2010 05:40 PM
calling on subjectivity means you're an idiot
me?

Anglachel 12-08-2010 05:41 PM
me?
no just in general

Anglachel 12-08-2010 05:42 PM
because arguments on the internet are formal
so as soon as you're wrong you can just call out

ARGUMENTS ON THE INTERNET ARE INFORMAL
IM GOING TO MODIFY THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TO FIT MY NEEDS
YOURE ALL WRONG

P13 12-08-2010 05:42 PM
because arguments on the internet are formal
debates are formal, this is independent from the media it takes place on
lots of meaningful discussion occurs on the internet, just not in R&M because its all OMG UR IMPLYING THAT IMPLYING THAT UR IMPLYING

fuck
