pretty good, but a few points slightly incorrect

punks during the 70s bands (sex pistols etc) had worn leather jackets, studded, and with band names on, that wasnt a street punk thing.

and piercings got more popular because of the whole gay s and m scene/metal.
In the 70s the jackets werent the steretypical studded, and painted leather jacket. That didnt come around till after the pistols. Rotten had a studded up blazer, and Sid had a plain leather jacket.

DrGolovaCroxby 11-15-2004 11:30 AM

this is one of the best threads that's been in these parts for awhile.

OiItsFatmatt 11-15-2004 11:30 AM

clash had studded jackets in the 70s, and ive seen pictures of people with studded and painted jackets from the 70s, but the heavily studded and painted jackets didnt happen until the street punk era :)

they just built up on the 70s

Alley McSqueal 11-15-2004 11:32 AM

Thats what im talking about, the stereotypical painted up and studded jackets.

Not the thrown together jackets the early punks had.

sketchyjoe 11-15-2004 01:03 PM

The Clash did have painted clothes but they weren't with band logos and things like that.

SickBoy 11-15-2004 01:09 PM

the Clash sort of did, they had White Riot and Hate and War on the back of there jackets

skateMASTERbater2 11-15-2004 01:12 PM

good thread :)

sketchyjoe 11-15-2004 01:12 PM

They just had slogans and their own song titles stenciled on their clothes and instruments.

Ѕex Pistols 11-15-2004 04:43 PM
they were around before
