the smiths aren't post punk |
i wouldnt consider them straight post-punk, but id say they have considerable post-punk influence
|
oh yeah? then what are they?
And I think the album you're saying Moon dude is Cromagnon - Orgasm, probably the only album I haven't been able to finish. |

Tell me what you think about it.
|
The Smiths are like, a middle-ground between 80's post punk and 90's indie.
Most people seem to consider them alternative and that really seems a lot more accurate than calling them post punk. |
**** you
|
And Jcs, definitely get The Raincoats' self-titled debut and Bauhaus' In The Flat Field. Essential post-punk.
|
Orgasm rules.
also get Public Image Ltd - Metal Box if we are talking post punk. |
wait no love for joy division and bauhaus?
you're a faggot bro and Interpol isn't post-punk, they really like it tho |
a tonne of stuff has already been mentioned and whenever somebody mentions post punk I usually type out a massive list of 20 bands and give a detailed analysis, not tonight guys i'm tired from work
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=580727 EMH's list here in this recent thread was surprisingly decent, and I made said post below. Research these bands and you should be well grounded in the genre. |
i love how we are giving recommendations to jcs and he will probably nevrer listen to them since he doesnt like joy division
|

Can anyone make reccomendations for me?
I like a wide range of music, but I want to find new bands to get into. I like death metal, metalcore, deathcore, hard rock, progressive rock, inde rock, maybe just a few screamo bands. I want to find bands that aren't generic and have excellent instrumental and lyrical abilities. |
