I've tried to listen to their first album but it doesn't really do anything for me. They seem kinda pretentious. I'll keep trying, just cause I've heard so much about them.

Great band. I'm sure all the people hating on here love pinkerton by weezer, even though its the exact same sound just diluted.

pavement do have their moments dont they! you have to admire their "not giving a shit" attitude towards writing music. their spontaneity and lack of regard for what any critic might think of them is really admirable. Also i would say that they were pivotal in shaping the 90s alternative music scene. so they definitely dont suck. it might not be your cup of tea but one man's poison is another man's meat.

To each his own, lets agree to disagree less you have better substantiation to buffer your sweeping claim
