Sounds wasn't great, but it seemed pretty decent. Good performance. :thumb:

The sound and video quality is way better on the same video uploaded to facebook. Youtube is awful. All you can hear is me anyway, haha. Ta duck :)

I just got back from seeing the Weakerthans. Holy christ they were good.

burtonbassist_102 03-23-2009 11:43 PM

I saw them last year. Great show.

FunkMetalBass 03-24-2009 12:53 PM

I think my nex bass shall feature a carved mahogany wings with figured walnut top (1/8" laminate maple stripe in between the two), 5-pc maple/wenge neck, birdseye maple fingerboard, and matching walnut-top headstock.

I also want two MM-style humbuckers (maybe some Delanos?) and an Aggy OBP-3.

Anybody know of a 6-string MM-style humbucker that has pole pieces showing?

that's all i could really find :thumb:

FunkMetalBass 03-24-2009 01:34 PM

Hmm, I don't know if aesthetics is worth a sacrifice in tonal quality. I'm really looking for something similar to a Wal pickup for a 6-string bass.

Build your own/commission someone to build it for you?

That's also what I'm thinking. I'm in contact with Clint Searcy who bulit my 8-string pickups to see if I can get him to make two Wal-esque pups.

I'd build my own, but I'm not sure exactly what goes into their pups. I know they use an interesting form of humbucker (I believe they were stacked both vertically and were horizontally positioned) with a LPF of some kind.

So, I'm thinking about joining the forces/RCMP.

Opinions?

Gattsu347 03-24-2009 03:02 PM

what else do you have going?

Something about this is hilarious.

He gets the first bomb dropped on him on a business trip, then returns home just in time to get the second bomb.

Yeah, I'm going to an information session early next week. They say that its almost guaranteed that you will not be posted in Ontario or Quebec, which sucks but I think I'd manage.

The pay is pretty good and I have some friends who are also interested in it.

Yeah, usually you don't get posted in your home province right away. After a few postings, though, sometimes it can happen. Plus you can retire after 25 years (going in young, that puts you at ~45) so you can do whatever the hell you want afterwards, and with a sweet pension at that.

Dang, I didn't know you could retire that early. I knew the same about the military, but that's awesome.

fatbandit 03-24-2009 05:39 PM

You answered your own question about the MM pickups. Delano will make 6 string MM style humbuckers. And they are great.

Poor bastard. :(

Lucky to live to 93 so far though. Two nukes and he still ain't dead.

I wonder how his mind was affected by that though. Seeing one of the most horrific things imaginable happen twice in a few days.

Do they have punchy/growly mids that cut through? I really don't want to end up with Barts again. I hate the ones on my Conklin.

That's not bad at all. Not that I'd want to do it, but it sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

DaveSavesTheDay 03-24-2009 06:32 PM

So, I'm moving out in May.

I'm pretty stoked. It also means that I can't spend my money like a tool anymore :upset:

I've also got the next month to save/pay off my credit card. Hopefully I can milk my parents for some money to cover the U-Haul or something.
