That looks like a pretty rough defret job, did you sand it and re-finish it after you put the wood filler in?
|
123 on what Jody said.
Did you rip them out with pliers? Looks like it :amaze: |

break out the orbital sander............hell break out the belt sander. |
have a lil trouble gettin thoughs frets out?... but its ok it gives it charactor.
but id def put new pups in it, to get rid of the "farting" squire sound/tone... -TBM |
I taped inbetween my frets and pried them out inch by inch with a tiny screwdriver. I suppose cutting them out with a jig saw is cool too...

Put in a Gibson EB style pickup, that'd rock :thumb:

If you didn't fill the frets in, do you really want to bend the neck? Sure looks like it since you put the strings on. |
i was thinking of defretting my squier p-bass
would it give it double bass kind of sound i have heard only good things about the 1/4 pounders there are bartonli and status graphite |

Why'd you put the strings back on then? |

edit: and i know the 1/4 lbs are good...any others though?[/QUOTE] Quarter pounders are usually used for a harder rock sound. I wouldn't put those into a fretless, I'd go with their vintage pickup or barts... |

i have quarter pounders in my defretted yamaha, and they sound sweet. roll the treble back, and put rounds on. its realy warm, and you can get some good growl and mwah out of it. i prefer it to almost all other fretlesses, except maybe a corvette. a few coats of poly are good too |
If you do replace the pickups, I'd replace the pots and jack as well. Just take all of the old electronics out and put all new stuff in.
Don't bother with anything too expensive, though. When it comes down to it, it's a Squier, and it will always be one. |
i defretted one of my bass about2 months ago now, I still haven't bothered to fill or refinish or epxy (got flat wounds) but it still sounds great played almost constantly and no damage. I will fill it one day.
oh and i used a plier |
