Hate them or love them, I've decided to do a profile on Anti-Flag for my 3000th post. It might suck because I am listening to Blink-182 as I am writing this and it's my first profile.

[CENTER][B]Biography[/B][/CENTER]
Anti-Flag are a Pittsburgh-area (Glenshaw) pop-punk band that I'm sure you've heard of. You can trace their existence all the way back to 1988, when Justin Sane and Pat Thetic decided they'd do something with their lives(say the following in part in dramatic voice); play punk rock. A handful of guitarists and bassists came in and out until 1993 when they found Andy Flag, their bassist. They Recorded Die for the Government in 1995, which is sometimes regarded as their best. Also, they recorded North America Sux, a split with DBS. The Anti-Flag songs were later released on Their System Doesn't Work For You. But after 2 tours, Justin and Andy couldn't get along, resulting in Andy leaving the band, and leaving Anti-Flag to look for a bassist.

In late 1996 Chris Head met Pat and Justin and filled in on bass for some December shows and then one on New Year's Day. Chris was a guitarist by trade, and they wanted him on guitar, so they found Jamie C[COLOR=White]o[/COLOR]ck, a fan of theirs, to play bass while Chris went to lead guitar. Jamie didn't stay forever, and left in 1998. The next summer, Chris #2, a huge fan of Anti-Flag, became their bassist, and still is. With #2 on board, they recorded A New Kind of Army, which wasn't as aggressive as their First 2 albums and was more political, although some humor was still there, on This Is Not A Crass Song and Right On.

After a bunch of touring, including the 2000 Warped Tour, Fat Mike from NOFX (who they'd met on tour) asked if they wanted to put out their next album on Fat Wreck. Underground Network came out in 2001, their most political album so far. Bring Out Your Dead featured #2 on lead vocals, a trend that would continue with Anti-Flag's music. After some more touring, they thought, "why not put out our next album on our own label, AF Records? And we'll throw in some live tracks too! Goody goody! *buttsex*". Mobilize came out in 2002 with ( /goes to check cd case... ) 8 live tracks and 8 from the studio. Aside from 911 For Peace (which was written in response to the attacks on 9/11), the studio stuff wasn't very good, but the live stuff salvaged the album in my opinion. The songs were played at some place called the Mr. Roboto Project in Pittsburgh, and have good sound quality. They ended the show with Die For the Government, and it's pretty awesome to hear the entire crowd singing along.

After Mobilize, they toured the US with Strike Anywhere and some others, Europe with Millencolin, and the Warped Tour. In 2004 they went back to the studio to record the Terror State, with Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine doing the production. They had know Tom for a few years, because they had played a few shows with Rage Against the Machine a few years earlier. The album fired at the Bush regime, and world politics in general. It was their poppiest work yet, introducing Anti-Flag to a new audience. They were called hypocrites when the Turncoat music video aired on MTV.

Recently, Anti-Flag signed with RCA, which got them labeled as hypocrites again, and alienated their 'true' fanbase. They're planning an album for sometime in 2006.

Yea, I founs some but I didn't feel like doing an incomplete list. And I'll spell check it, although I was the bast speller in the class in 2nd grade. :)

I didn't actually read it yet, but I will soon. Anti-Flag is an amazing band when you're just getting into punk.

I've said this many times, i dont like them and for what reason I dont know, awsome band profile though.

Good job on the profile, I can't really say that I'm a fan of AF, but an interestng read nonetheless.

Certain places had info that was differen with other places, although thats a bit of a lame excuse.

They recorded it in 1996/1997. The CD came out in early 1997, after Andy had already quit the band.

That means I read like 3 sentences and knew this was a bad profile.

I believe the 1997 was a re-release, or they just released it after it's recording. And Andy obviosly played on Die For the Gov't, so it was obviously recorded when he was in the band.

No, I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. It was wrong. It's like when Bush said there were "WMDs" in Iraq, and then that was wrong and everyone called him a bad president. When Rodney King got beat up by all those cops, it was wrong. They called the cops "Bad" people. When Jared of Subway commerials used to be fat, it was wrong. They called him a "bad fat person".

Those examples were completely necessary too. I would compare a band profile to how the president runs the country without a second of thought towards it.

Anyways, lame profile. Missing a lot and wrong about a lot.

The CD came out after he quit. That means he was there for the recording, just not when the CD came out. Can you follow that or am I going to fast? Here, I'll slow it down for you:

Joe, Rodney was driving at high speeds on all kinds of drugs, if he had hit someone, it would have been a completely different story. It's just how things happened.

EDIT: One thing I laughed at was the fact that guns of brixton used a website that says the following:
"It is the only album featuring Andy Flag, the first bassist, as Andy left the band after the album was recorded but before it was released."

And then disagreed with me. But to further my point on wikipedia- Andy Flag was featured on "Their System Doesn't Work for You" on the earlier live songs.

wikipedia is [i]not[/i] always accurate. due to its construction, it reflects any number of biases, both those of individual users and of its general conributing populus. it is also prone to terrible innacuracy in such small, hard-to-notice matters like when a certain album came out or how exactly something obscure happened.

Lets end this. I don't even see what we are disagreeing about. We both know Andy was there for the recording and wasn't for the release. If you think you could've done a better proflie there was nothing stopping you from doing it, but whatever, I want to end this.
