I thought non-violence was supposed to be an anarchist belief, or is Gabel no longer an anarchist.
Oh, shut up.

Any one want to top a $200 bid?

Henrik 08-14-2007 04:40 PM

Hehe that would be cool to own, but you should be a complete idiot to spend 200$ on that.

You are a complete moron. Did you even read the article? BTW I am Michael Hurley. Those are my statements and I was there first hand. Tom's action were completely out of line. What was written is exactly what happened. Both Smith and I paid him no attention till he ripped down the article. Smith did not even realize who Tom was at that moment. We have been patrons to the cafe for quite some time now. If anyone else were to come in and had started ripping down articles on the bulletin board he would of said the same thing. He commited battery which is a punishable crime. No one has any right to do what Tom did.

Henrik 08-14-2007 05:03 PM

Do you know what was written on that article?

Was Tom sober?

Henrik 08-14-2007 05:05 PM

Isn't he always. I thought he quit drinking right before SFAFC came out.
Isn't he always. I thought he quit drinking right before SFAFC came out.
I'm not sure, I've never heard anything about that. And the newest live videos I have from them are from We're Never Going Home, which was right before Clarity.

mabba 08-14-2007 05:08 PM

I never saw the graffeti on the article. The cafe is called All Saints. Alot of punk/DIY/college students/scensters/ and so on hang out there alot. There is graffeti and writings all over the walls. Most articles on the bulletin board get written on at some point. As for Tom being sober, I have no idea. You are still responsible for your actions no matter what state of mind you might be in. I was at the counter next to Smith doing design work on my mac and was not paying much attention until Tom started argueing with Smith.

Henrik 08-14-2007 05:08 PM

When I saw them a month ago they all seemed sober.

He was never really my idol as I don't really think I can look up to someone who did that much coke, I dunno, but now I'm kind of embarrassed to like AM! as much as I do.

Flagjacket 08-14-2007 11:38 PM

Tom Gabel is a big douchebag end of story.

Henrik 08-15-2007 03:41 AM

Tom did a lot of coke?

Twin Human Highway Flares 08-15-2007 03:44 AM

From what I hear, yeah. There's that line in Beginning in an Ending, as well, though that's hardly conclusive.

I don't think he's ever been my idol. But I did really really like him a lot. I have lost some respect for him now though.

Edit: Think Sire will considering dropping them due to the bad publicity?

mullets suk 08-15-2007 08:19 AM

thats insane. (both the story and the 200$ record). i really thought tom was a pretty cool guy, from what i saw from dvds and the like. this just brings it down really bad.

I dont think sire will drop them. th publicity isnt that bad, considering this is the only place ive seen the news.

Angry Balled Fists! 08-15-2007 09:40 AM

Just a question.

There's a video of Tom talking about what happened that night, as well as a clip of TSR.

Anarcho Poser 08-15-2007 10:13 PM

I heard in an interview somewhere either Tom or Warren saying somehting to the effect of "this isn't going to last forever, so we just want to experience as much as we possibly can while it lasts" Which, to me, is enough of a reason to sign to a major label.

Henrik 08-16-2007 03:50 AM

Though it isn't a good reason to start making shitty music.

That video is the first time I've heard Against Me! them selves actually talking about their choice about changing to a major label and defend it. Usually they kind of ignore the subject as for what I have heard.

Anyways, that crowd sounds awful! 16 year old girls all of them.

SkaRobotArmy 08-16-2007 04:04 AM

'gotta make your money while you got the chance'

maybe they are just doin this to get some money together and experiment a little bit then when contract expires they go back and start doin what they want.

Henrik 08-16-2007 04:15 AM

If they pulled of a Chumbawamba I would love them so ****ing much!!!

Like someone else on here once said: Imagine if they went on stage for some huge award show and then suddenly just announced that they still were anarchists and starting playing one of the old songs like Baby I'm An Anarchist, Impact etc. Then they would give all the money they earned to some awesome benefit and everything would be great again :p

:D

blockhead 08-16-2007 07:24 PM

I just saw Against Me! last night and it was an awesome show. I came home covered in sweat from singing and moshing with everyone. The best part was the encore when they played Baby I'm an Anarchist and We Laugh at Danger and Break All the Rules and everyone went crazy and sang every word. It was probably the best concert I've ever been to.

Anarcho Poser 08-17-2007 12:07 AM

what was the setlist like?

Johnny Quest. 08-17-2007 05:24 AM

I'm seeing them in a couple days, so i hope they play those two songs.
