Ok, this thread can be a compilation of good songs for beginners to learn. There are a hundred and one threads asking for and listing such songs, so lets compile it all in one place.

rhcp - parallel universe - moderate - easy bassline but its in 16 notes, play with your fingers to build up great endurance and speed.

Doesn't matter what it was played on, it's still an easy bassline.

Ac/dc tends not to have good bass. They have two exellent electric guitarists(Angus and Malcom Young). But so does Guns 'n Roses, they have some good bass.

Actually it isn't palm muted, it's run through an octave pedal ;)

hm, what would you rate anesthesia (metallica)? Moderate-ish? sorta trying to learn it, more concentrating on learning the fullness of orion interlude solo though..

I have just started to play bass a few months ago and found the following as good starting tunes:

Nirvana- Come as you are, smells like teen spirit, stay away
Sex Pistols- Anarchy in the U.k
theme tune- star wars

I started to just learn the intros first but after a month or 2 learned the chorus and verse...I found that a good way

Jet - Are U Gonna be my girl? - Easy, catchy.
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog - Easy/Intermediate
Area-7 - Second Class Citizen - Easy, sounds way cool though :D (great song aswell)
Bodyjar - Not the Same - Easy
NOFX - Bath of Least Resistance - Easy, Intro's a bit tricky at first but easy once you get the hang of it
Rancid - Stickin' In My Eye - Easy/Intermediate
Bigwig - Blinded - Easy/Intermediate

Here's a good beginner song that's fun to play.

i just got my first bass 5-ish days ago and Ben E. King (that maybe wrong) - Stand By Me, was an easy song to learn

When searching for an easy song to play, it's a safe bet that punk is the way to go.

Discharge - Free Speech for the Dumb - easiest song ever
Mistfits - Die, Die My Darling - very easy
Metallica - Crash Course in Brain Surgery - easy, almost moderate; solo takes time to get right

I should also mention that any song by Van Halen is easy as balls on bass.
