Paiste 1000/2000/3000 ???

i musta missed this era...

could someone please explain what quality level these are, and how they (quality wise) fit into the current Paiste offerings?

TIA

I think they are the higher end of the buidget lines, I'm not 100% though. I understand that it goes 302, 402, 502, 802, 1000, 2000, 3000. I'm not sure they are even made anymore though.

spike9908 10-18-2005 02:09 PM

i think they are like the 2oo2 series, just a different name.

if i remeber correctally, the 3000 were the predicessors to RUDE or something like that.

Massik Kretal 10-18-2005 02:13 PM

Never heard of them. Maybe the 2002 line was called 2000 and then they upgraded or changed the design of it and renamed it slighty.

1000 dunno.

3000 was explained kinda.

hehe ~ thx for the replies, but no... so far youre all wrong

the 1000/2000/3000 series were in the late 80s/early 90s?
i still dont see where these can fit in, Paiste go wacky or something for a few years?

Maybe they just wanted to make a mid-line.

Beginner - *00
Mid - *000
Pro - Everything else

your forgetting 602s.. they're sweet IMO

FL3P 10-18-2005 07:19 PM

I wish I could remember those, Im sure I was in full gearhead mode at that point in time but they don't ring a bell.

When I looked them up all I saw was the 2000 sound reflections series which were just coloured versions of the 2002's if you remember them.

The only thing I know about them is that my tutor said "DON'T BUY 2000 SERIES CYMBALS!"

Then showed me a 2000 Sound Reflections splash that had completely bent out out of all recognition like a piece of tin foil. Complete with stick inflicted dents (he's not a hard hitting type either)

So I reckon you can discount them as anyhow closely related to 2002s

I wonder if the coloured coating on them weakened them because they were supposed to be professional level cymbals but werent around for very long.

yeah, that link explins everything for you. He beat me to it.

Now get this:

SUPER (then a star and crescent stamp) cymbals were Pasites from the 50's (circa). They were called Stanoples also (European and American versions were called by different names), and they were made in the Swiss factory. I just Chomped down on one on eBy a 20" from somewhere in the 50's... They DIDN'T say Paiste on them, but it is Paiste, I'm just not sure what alloy they were made with.
