Powering stomp boxes

I've always just run Bass-->Amp, I have no real need or desire for effects but I want to get together a small pedalboard to give me a bit more control and a few other things I'd like (compressor, eq, tuner, overdrive), I was going to get the boss stomp box ones as they are pretty solid, not stupidly expensive and I'm happy with the tones I got when testing them, plus I already have a modded CS-3 which I like.

My question is this:
Is there any way to power them all that doesn't involve taking a loan out to fund battery use or buy 4 adapters at £25 each? I tried using a cheap all purpose adapter but it gives me a lot of hiss, so thats not really an option.

Thanks.

i have one, works fine.

edit: in fact i just bought the extension cable with like five plugs connected to it, and hooked it up to a cheap adapter. don't get that much hiss with my CS-3.

I ended up using mainly Boss pedals (even though they arent the greatest), instead of the variety that I own because I can power them all with one adapter, through the tuner.

1 spot = amazing.
I use it
guitarist of the band uses it

Taking out a loan for batteries....?! Theyre not that much. Get the adapter, works out better in the end anyway. You dont have to worry about your pedals dying or sounding sucky half way thru a show either

Since we're on the subject, does anyone happen to know where I could find an 18V power supply? I need one for my Blowtorch and have had no luck finding one. In the UK would be preferable but US is fine too since I'll be moving there soon anyway.

sixner 10-28-2007 01:16 AM

ouch, good question. I've got a blowtorch too... i just use batteries for that (i dont use it often). I know they make adaptors for them though, check radioshack or...

Well that was easy...Hm. Prolly don't make much of them in the UK. The pedal is from America anyway...

1-Spots are notoriously noisy. I have one, and I also use a Godlyke Power-All, which is essentially the same product, but with less noise.

sixner 10-28-2007 07:50 PM

noise suppressor?

May not even matter if you've got some dist. or whatever goin.

amnestyslowend 10-28-2007 07:54 PM

godlyke is the best at low nosie power supplies.

Indeed. More expensive, but definitely worth it.

You might as well spend the extra 20 bucks and buy the other multi-power unit. And even with distortion you get some nasty hiss.

Actually, I just checked, and they must have dropped their price, because it's like $35 now.

I spotted that Boss do a pedal board for £80 or something that has a built in power supply for up to 7 units, I was planning to get a pedal board anyway so I figure I may as well get that one. Cheers for the advice.

Since we are on the subject, where are you moving to in the US?

Richi 10-29-2007 12:16 PM

New Jersey.

I have my reasons:p

Pluperfect_Arson 10-29-2007 12:16 PM

Hey, hey, I am not here to question your judgement!

I was curious. :)

Richi 10-29-2007 12:18 PM

I know, I was just kidding.

Must say though. I do love it when I see a post made by you.

agree'd :thumb:

I've thought about a pedal board like that, but it seems overly priced. you can make something fairly simple for cheaper than that.. With the godlyke or onespot.

I use the 1-spot. Works great... Have a few friends that use them as well, no noise issues with them.

Much like Behringer, this product is only notoriously (negative something or other) when you talk to people the internet. That or a lot of the stuff that most people consider crap seems to work great around here, with no real problems...
