Sex pistols
Fuck it. They rock. Let's get real here - better than any punk after 86
|
I don't know about that geddy.
I don't think they're better than the sum of Steve Albini's contributions to punk and noise rock et al. |
Im just startin trouble
|
I like Steve albino though.

fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight

i like sex pistols though
they were doing it hardcore outside of the stage, none of that sXe piss and johnny thunder, kickass |
but sxe didn't really exist at that time. It might be argued that they influences or motivated sxe though.
has anyone listened to Mission Of Burma? |
i dig mission of burma
|
I don't like em. The Damned is a better band. And so are most of the KBD-style UK bands, and the early anarcho bands.
|
Mission of Burma is fantastic doe
|
fnnnn
respect i'm a lonely boy i'm left in misery |
have to respect what they done
doesn't mean you should ever think you have the right to judge them you amoebic cunt |
im just sayin man
johnny rotten drank Ramones piss im js man |
The only thing Sex Pistols did good was letting Megadeth cover one of their shitty songs.
|
I kinda liked that their shows were more a venue for punks to strangle each other
|
the sex pistols were the shot heard 'round the world. they were political without being obvious and fashionable before anyone realized it. the ramones, thunders, iggy pop, go ahead and name 'em all. they didn't know what they were doing. little art rock bohemians, surf rock turned up to warp speed
the pistols knew what they were doing. well, a couple of them at least. even if a lot of what they did was by accident. musically they were very basic, like chuck berry or something. rock 'n roll had drifted so far from itself the pistols seemed musically radical when they were really as simple and basic as it got they didn't sound like boston or led zeppelin. and that was bad thing? the 'pistols made it a good thing and their influence can still be heard and seen today. they defined punk into sharp focus while taking away its apparent limitations at the same time. no small feat, there i like 'em. may not have been the first shot or last shot of "punk." but it was their shot that mattered most and still does the look of rebellion seems so common now. and i want paul cook's jacket |
that's a wise description.

has anyone listened to Mission Of Burma?
I was more referring to the general attitude |
i dont really "get" the appeal or the motivation behind groups like the sex pistols, but that isnt to say i havent listened to them or enjoyed them somewhat
|
What I enjoy about the Sex Pistols is how they give such an entertaining album As Never Mind the Bollocks with such muffled guitar playing. I suppose that is part of the appeal of classic Punk Rock and I would be lying if it didn't appeal to me in the same vein too.
I tend to be an outsider in this opinion, but I always felt Sid Vicious was just a terrible bass player. The man couldn't play worth a damn and the loss of Glen Matlock really killed the band. Hell, I feel the Sex Pistols would have lasted longer if Glen had stayed. |
i'm guessing anyone at all can make the fundamental mistake of call it a type of rock. it wasn't. it was punk.
other thing is the guitar in their songs. and the bass. so simple that a messed up sid could play when entirely out of his box. but never forget gg was the man for shock everyone else is insignificant by his standards. |
