idk what you've heard but I like the following -
Devo - Freedom of Choice Talking Heads - Remain In Light Strawberry Switchblade - Strawberry Switchblade Orange Juice - Rip It Up Grauzone - Eisbaer Blondie - Blondie i'm more into the post punk side of things, new wave seems to be an interchangeable term with it though. this is some of the happier, more upbeat stuff
ive heard next to nothing. im lookin for darker (as much as the word can be applied to the genre) stuff, like the more atmospheric stuff with the air-y vocals. the only cd ive really got from the genre is josef k and its a little more upbeat than im looking for. |
Remain in Light is gay, get the self-titled .
|
Theoretically it almost seems like it ceases to become new wave and becomes no wave or post-punk once there's a dark element, but I'm sure there are exceptions.
Try Suicide's debut, if you haven't. |
idk i just want to hear some synthed out **** that isnt too fast paced or upbeat with the airy atmospheric almost monotone vocals. like, depeche mode maybe? dark wave i guess the music is called im looking for.

there's enough monotony on this for two albums , if i recall correctly |
ill check it out. but yeah i guess 'dark wave' is what im looking for.

Chris & Cosey - Heartbeat gloomy synthpop, can't remember any vocals though
Remain in Light is gay
die in a house fire |
i have more talking heads and david byrne material than you
|
you do
but Remain In Light is ****ing awesome |
it's a great record, i just don't see why every one thinks it's their crowning acheivement
|
yeah but everybody else fellates it
Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead both got their names from it or something like that |
Radiohead got their name from a talking heads song and said that Remain In Light has the most significant influence on their sound
NIN used the backwards N in a reference to the album cover I figured it'd be easier to bend the truth than state all of this |
nah i need to get on that
|
think im going to get depeche mode, killing joke, and the cassandra complex
|
Killing Joke is good, haven't listened extensively to Depeche Mode and have never heard of The Cassandra Complex
everytime I look into this genre I discover 10 new bands though |
ive heard like 4 songs from depeche mode and they seem to be about the closest thing to the sound i was looking for
|
i always thought Depech Mode was a code name for The Cure
|
Killing Joke's first album is really good. I haven't heard anything else by them though.
|
hell yeah

|

|

candlemass in one ear and blondie in the other |
Heart of BROKEN GLASS |
my mash ups are sweet
who doesn't want to listen to Donovan's Mellow Yellow played backwards on top of the drum beat from a Jay Z song |
Who doesn't want to listen to Il Divo and Meshuggah at the same time. I know I do.

i don't remember if i ever showed you guys the Yellow Without Pink mash-up made from brass and string arrangements from old pop songs , about the death of pink and yellow |
Is P&Y dead?
|
not officially but i worked out some sort of concept about P&Y actually being two people and there being a bit of a falling out
A solo Yellow release is theoretically possible |
