I can't remember if you recommended that I listen to Negativland earlier in the thread or if someone like Chris did, but I have one of their albums. I'll check it out, thanks.

Alex, you might prefer the more post-punk side of neofolk as a starting point so I would suggest checking out some early Death In June such as Burial or The Guilty Have No Pride.

I really like Boyd Rice's Black Album

Txus 12-08-2009 09:46 PM

I don't like Boyd Rice's "solo" stuff tbh

Meatplow 12-08-2009 09:51 PM

idk all his stuff I have heard is pretty terrible in a way, that is why I like it most of the time

Txus 12-08-2009 10:01 PM

If it's terrible why do you like it?

Meatplow 12-08-2009 10:08 PM

because its terrible in a Boyd Rice way, as opposed to just boring

Txus 12-08-2009 10:10 PM

I don't get that ideology tbh

if its terrible I just don't listen to it, but idk, that's me.

<3 your avatar btw, boston terrier's ftw!

Meatplow 12-08-2009 10:17 PM

well, idk. measuring terrible to me isn't just labeling something not worth my time and leaving it at that, it gets complicated man.

googly eyes won me over :D

Txus 12-08-2009 10:18 PM

I was going to buy one of those but it was kinda expensive and a girl at work gave me a puppy for free so yeah

might buy one in a couple of years, they are so coooooool

Jaundice 12-08-2009 10:22 PM

Music can be terrible and still appealing, depending on how you define terrible.

I mean I can see some one saying Monte Cazazza is terrible but its pretty fun to listen to.

And bad rap can be a good time too

Txus 12-08-2009 10:29 PM

You see, I just don't understand all of that. For me terrible is something I don't like. If I like it it's not terrible/bad.

Meatplow 12-08-2009 10:32 PM

I have no pretentions of good taste anymore.

Txus 12-08-2009 10:33 PM

Strong words Mr. Haz.

Aaron 12-08-2009 10:34 PM

I like something that leaves an impact. I'd rather listen to Justin Timberlake than Metallica for example. JT irritates me, Metallica is mindless.

Txus 12-08-2009 10:35 PM

JT is great.

Aaron 12-08-2009 10:37 PM

Yeah it is, but it's also everything I hate about pop music at the same time.
It's so well made it infuriates me.

Txus 12-08-2009 10:39 PM

I don't know about Pop that much (maybe that's the reason why i dislike most Lady Gaga songs Ive heard and why you guys are jizzing all over her) but I like JT's stuff for some reason. Recommend me some Pop music, Aaron. And please don't say Catfight On A Hotdog.

Jaundice 12-08-2009 10:39 PM

Pink and Yellow

its like really simple happy melodies being played by weird mechanical sounding samples, whats more fun than that

Meatplow 12-08-2009 10:43 PM

i have a sudden hankering to listen to Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill

Txus, try that Strawberry Switchblade album up on mah blog

Jaundice 12-08-2009 10:44 PM

you have to sit down and listen to The Fame all the way though to get into Lady Gaga.

I didn't like any of the singles she released on the radio, and once i listened to them in the context of the entire album I love them.

it's a grower, but once it grows on you it hits so hard

Meatplow 12-08-2009 10:46 PM

I hate most radio stuff because usually i'm hearing it on poopty speakers at work or on peoples mobile phones and in shopping malls.

The production on The Fame is really good.

Txus 12-08-2009 10:47 PM

I feel weird when someone calls me txus now :p

Downloading now, looks like something I'd like tbh plus Cocteau Twins name drop :D

yeah the production on this **** blows my mind

Txus 12-08-2009 10:49 PM

**** you, Haz! I need to download like most of your blog :(

Aaron: Thanks, I already hate some of those, haha. Will check out the ones that look interesting.

Aaron 12-08-2009 10:50 PM

I'm still brainstorming and adding to that list.

Jaundice 12-08-2009 10:50 PM

I used to be a huge Kelly Clarkson fan.

Meatplow 12-08-2009 10:50 PM
yeah the production on this **** blows my mind
Yeah, I tried to recreate some of those fat synth sounds, it's not as easy as one might think.

sometimes I get muddled up, i'm like is it Mitch or is it Matt so i'm like **** i'll just refer to you as Txus then I remember your name is Mike and i'm like :(

Aaron 12-08-2009 10:51 PM

Here's the thing, we started off friends, it was cool but it was all pretend, since you've been Jaundice

Jaundice 12-08-2009 10:52 PM
you don't have to tell me that, i'm still racking my brains trying to figure out how to make a synth sing like that
