If you want the mods to be stricter you'd need like 6 of them, not just 3. That way the favortism one Mod might show (i.e letting his buddies spam) will be canceled out by a different one who will close the thread. And with so many of them, it'd be hard for users to pin point who did what.

This would be useful (though my solution still pwns). Mod Justin, Dropper, and Nath or Mother. Make them use different browsers with new cookies, though, so they don't get retroactively hacked.

I thought it was better back when Litninfingers63 was nazi mod. It wasn't the nazi mod thing that was good though. It was how back in that time, there was a definite group of elite users, and all the new users were really pressured to step it up and get within that elite crowd. You would either stop being a completely unfunny, retarded child or get completely pounded with insults until you convert or leave.

except the elites weren't actually funny they were just miming SA jokes here in the pit and wearing them into the ground kind of like how the irc crew now mimes /b/ jokes into the ground

Argument for keeping the Pit:

The Pit actually serves a purpose, sort of like your cesspool or septic system. The waste has to have somewhere to go or it will build up in your house and everything will smell. Let it fester there. You could keep it, with disabled post count, and post a warning along with the heading so noobs will know it's not necessarily a place to be entered lightly.

Argument for closing the Pit:

If you close the pit, you may have to be prepared to lose some people who post only there, and maybe that's OK. Then other mods will have to be diligent in dealing with any crap that spreads to other sub-forums. Most sub-forums, I believe, have their own off-topic discussion threads (the Stronghold and L&R threads in D&P for example) so we can discuss those things there without fear of being trolled and flamed.

Bottom line for future forum growth: What do you want a new visitor to see upon their first trek through the forums? What will bring them back, encourage them to join, or scare them away?

Still Chad, it's not your call. This is a private forum, you don't own the url, you've invested no money in it, you have no offical say on how it is moderated and run. What gives you the idea, besides your tremendous ego, that you should be involved in any of this forums day to day operational decisions?
Were you unhappy because you were never modded, or is it something way more sinister? This is not your forum, Go buy a url from godaddy, put up your own forum, sign up 300,000 members and run it the way you want.

Med banned me for a lousy reason a few months back; I didn't take up arms against him (metaphorically speaking--I did show up at his house with an AK47) or complain about how bad he [I]treats[/I] me.

If you bring up complaints reasonably (and to the right people), things get addressed. Back when I was a mod, my bad decisions didn't go unnoticed or uncorrected. Particularly when they involved users who didn't respond by hacking and the sort.
