From which song a beginner can start.

Iceman-rocker 11-09-2007 12:19 PM

metallica. start with load/reload and work your way backwards.
when you finish their first album, you are a medium to decent guitar player.

FieldyFanBassist 11-16-2007 06:56 PM

try manson songs they are easy

NortherlyNanook 12-02-2007 03:03 AM

I can't help but share the joy of one of my favorite first songs that I learned on bass: Rancid's "Salvation." Very gratifying, and it isn't too hard for beginners.

Jesse93 01-22-2008 10:12 AM

no doubt- its my life

billy corgan 05-02-2008 02:22 PM

longview by green day

Cosmia 05-16-2008 09:44 AM

Mama by My Chemical Romance.

Epic, and fun to play.

Thrash_King92 05-20-2008 08:59 PM

Metallica-For whom the bell tolls is pretty simple

burtonbassist_102 06-10-2008 06:11 PM

actually one of the first songs i learned by metallica on the bass was seek and destroy.

i would also recommend the master of puppets main riff. even if you don't learn the whole song, the main riff is a GREAT finger exercise.

Rectify88 08-13-2008 08:53 AM

Isn't there just a book to get that has songs that every up and coming bassist should learn. Cause I can read Tab, but what am I gonna do when I finish the fast track books?

Convectuoso 09-04-2008 01:31 AM

This is a little advanced, but one of the more easy 'solo bass' pieces to learn; Power by Marcus Miller is IMO one of the quintessential pieces to learn as a bassist. Not for beginners, but once you're ready you should try tackle it bit by bit.

GUTS 09-16-2008 02:22 PM

Big Wig - falling down

if your cool, you can learn the guitar part as well.

Zandt 10-09-2008 06:54 PM

dunno if it's been said yet but
Beatles: All My Loving is incredibly easy (but a lot of early Beatles stuff is)
And
Guns N Roses: Sweet Child of Mine (long, but I found it easy at least)
rhcp - parallel universe - moderate - easy bassline but its in 16 notes, play with your fingers to build up great endurance and speed.
yeah it is quite simple but beginners won't be able to play that quick.

Alot of Coldplay songs are really simple to play.

Coldplay - Don't Panic - Incredibly easy - this song is so easy its just not funny
Coldplay - The Scientist - Incredibly easy - like this one
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Wet Sand - Easy - not too hard

FadeToBlack 07-26-2009 01:57 PM

I'll be picking up my first bass some time soon, so any extremely easy songs to practice hand movement and stuff for a complete beginner? I've literally never played a guitar or bass in my life

Mr. Pickle 07-26-2009 05:59 PM

dont bother

FadeToBlack 07-27-2009 04:24 AM
dont bother
Or not? Just because I've never played a guitar before doesn't mean I don't play other instruments and don't know what it takes to become good at one, k?

Mr. Pickle 07-27-2009 04:53 PM

o ok

FadeToBlack 07-28-2009 02:15 AM

Sorry man, had me in stitches that comment and don't know why. You're such a dick, but I can't help but laugh.

FadeToBlack 07-28-2009 03:22 PM

not as much of a metallica fan as when I joined back in the day

karmapavementplan 07-28-2009 03:33 PM

Your fandom only lasted 4 months?

FadeToBlack 07-28-2009 03:36 PM

No I listened to them a lot before I joined Spuntik, but then I started listening to heavier stuff. Still listen to them occasionally though
