Tyler 04-29-2011 08:52 PM

Nepenthe 04-29-2011 09:35 PM

i wonder if he is actually in Lesser Key????

dUSK 05-02-2011 12:45 AM

Rec me some grind please. I'm pretty entry level with it, and I really only listen to Captain Cleanoff and Pig Destroyer on occasion. Was thinking I would check out Magrudergrind, as I remember them being liked around here, but any other suggestions would be welcomed.

MalleusMaleficarum 05-02-2011 08:43 AM

Repulsion - Horrified (recorded in 1986, probably the pioneers of grind)
Insect Warfare - World Extermination
Discordance Axis - The Inalienable Dreamless
Wormrot - Dirge (some 2011 grind)

Tyler 05-02-2011 09:00 AM

Nasum Shift really helped me get into grind; it was kind of its None So Vile for me

DBlitz 05-02-2011 09:54 AM

definitely get all the ones mentioned so far, especially insect warfare and DA. magrudergrind is a good choice too. which pig destroyer have you listened to? both prowler in the yard and terrifyer are worth listening to.

other than the ones already mentioned, check out these:

Terrorizer - World Downfall
In Disgust - Reality Choke
Nails - Unsilent Death

Haz 05-02-2011 10:10 AM

Napalm Death - From Enslavement to Obliteration, ofc

rasputin 05-02-2011 10:16 AM

insect warfare - world extermination
insect warfare - at war with grindcore
assuck - misery index
blood - o agios pethane
in disgust - reality choke
terrorizer - world downfall
wormrot - abuse
discordance axis - inalienable dreamless

those are prob my favs. you would probably like blood greg, it has a very old school dm vibe to it as well. the rest are all great.

Nepenthe 05-02-2011 04:11 PM

trap them - sleepwell deconstructor

dUSK 05-03-2011 02:20 AM

Thanks folks. Appreciate the recs. Will have to check out Insect Warfare first I think.

DurzoBlint 05-04-2011 01:40 PM

Hmm so I am loving fall of efrafa. Anybody know any other bands that are very similar (not necessarily the concept but the sound I am after)

Txus 05-04-2011 03:04 PM

Vestiges
Icos
Downfall of Gaia
Finisterre
Ictus
Unquiet

DurzoBlint 05-04-2011 03:39 PM

ill look into them, the similar artists currently on their page are really nothing like them...

CompanionCube 05-04-2011 03:49 PM

finisterre sounds so much like fall of efrafa i get songs confused sometimes

Txus 05-04-2011 03:51 PM

Same with Vestiges.

DurzoBlint 05-04-2011 03:59 PM

Cheers for the recs :)

MOP_Orion 05-10-2011 03:13 AM

Looking for some instrumental stuff, been listening to Scale The Summit, Cloudkicker, East of the wall, Pelican a lot lately and would like some more but don't really know where to look.

subliminalnirvanaist 05-10-2011 06:10 PM

Goth and Doom Metal Recomendations?

Looking for stuff in these genres. Just give me the big names first then others I might like. Thanks! :smash:

Haz 05-10-2011 07:36 PM

check the first post in this thread for doom metal. the thing is if you want the big names of a genre a simple google search should do you fine, until you want to dig deeper

EdgeOfSanity 05-15-2011 01:19 PM

Looking for some Doom/Stoner recs ala Black Sabbath and Church Of Misery...Stoner stuff without lyrics about weed maybe(holy oxymoron!)

HectorLetberg 05-31-2011 02:18 PM

What's up guys? If you could spare some of your knowledge, I'm looking for the following flavors :

1. Strongly metal-rooted bands* with some kind of a punk edge, a la Stray from the Path. I'm especially interested in vocals that... stray from the path, as I feel Dijorio's voice does but anything with SftP's energy should do the trick!

2. Something that feels as insane as the second Embrace the End record (without going as far as Psyopus, for exemple, that just feels a little too cold). By that I mean technicality, energy and, of course, RAGE. That's important!

* edit : sumerian recs labels it 'alt hardcore', which doesn't mean much so me, honestly, but if it can help anybody giving out band names, well here it is.

xMalcolmXx 05-31-2011 02:48 PM

run with the hunted
botch
converge
trap them
bled2deth

HectorLetberg 06-01-2011 02:48 PM

Already knew 3/5 but I'll check the other two, thanks man.

Anybody else?

MalleusMaleficarum 06-01-2011 03:24 PM

Architects - Nightmares
The Secret - Luce
Owen Hart - Earth Control
Kerouac - Cold and Distant, Not Loving

you said botch were "good", and that clearly means you haven't listened to them enough.

listen to them again.

HectorLetberg 06-02-2011 06:26 AM

@Malcomx : I actually listened to We Are the Romans on my way to work, just put it back in my pod. I think I'm having issues with the vocals, but yes, definitely, I'll listen again. I must get my hand on American Nervoso. And I went straight ahead and blind-bought Trap Them cause the reviews on site were pretty convincing. I do that sometimes.

@ Malleus : I HATE Nightmares, largely cause of the atrocious production, but will definitely look at the three others. The Secrets looks like it could very well go into my tastes. Thanks a bunch, man.
Hmm so I am loving fall of efrafa. Anybody know any other bands that are very similar (not necessarily the concept but the sound I am after)
LIGHT BEARER

it's the members of Fall of Efrafa's new(ish) band

HectorLetberg 06-06-2011 12:54 PM

That gif is... killing me.

@ MalcomX : Darker Handcraft, what a ride! The vocal signature is refreshing. It's a bit short, but pretty good! This is pretty much the punkish energy I was talking about.

SlightlyEpic 06-06-2011 02:05 PM

if you dig Trap Them listen to Backstabbers Inc too, some of the members were in that band before Trap Them
