but at least one stickied thread with all the links to the official ones.
yeah i guess that works too :thumb:

The Black Fist 10-26-2006 12:30 PM

Alright, let's try it your guys' way. Think of two 'official' threads that you want to see, make them and I'll sticky them.

JoshIsNumber3 10-26-2006 12:32 PM

plz make this report suggestions and make problems

The Black Fist 10-26-2006 12:40 PM

request denied

overturned 10-26-2006 12:46 PM

Official No Thread, less about rules more points where the answer or opinion would be "No."

The Black Fist 10-26-2006 01:03 PM

OT this is brilliant

official "No/Practice" thread with a list of frequently asked questions all where the answer is unanimously 'no' or 'practice'

kurrpt2 10-26-2006 01:25 PM

I wish there was some way to limit threads based on someone's available funds, asking them what kind of music they play, and basically giving them the same answers over and over again.

Its along the same lines of eliminating the redundant responses, just taken another step forward

The Black Fist 10-26-2006 02:00 PM

yeah because that's possible too eh

JoshIsNumber3 10-26-2006 02:25 PM

Leave it to Krup.

kurrpt2 10-26-2006 02:26 PM
yeah because that's possible too eh
Sure it would. You could easily compile a FAQs thread about price ranges, possbile 'sounds', and things of that nature.

7-Up 10-26-2006 02:28 PM

Can You Sticky THe Lod and renaem this thread the report problems and questions thread???

those are my top two.

kurrpt2 10-26-2006 02:29 PM

Here's a request...

how about limiting the spam in this thread?

The Black Fist 10-26-2006 02:31 PM
Sure it would. You could easily compile a FAQs thread about price ranges, possbile 'sounds', and things of that nature.
Oh, so you mean you want a thread that lists all possible combinations of budget limits, goal sounds, extraneous circumstances and personal preferences among other things. I refer to this post;
yeah because that's possible too eh
Though I do agree with the post you just made about spam and am now cracking down on this

I figure saying it four times in one thread is enough warning to warrant immediate bans eh? Either make suggestions, talk about the discussion at hand or gtfo.

kurrpt2 10-26-2006 02:35 PM

so that's a no then?

at any rate, it is easily conceivable that you could make an FAQ about amp choices. Sure, there would still be the occassional amp thread, but if you laid out the common choices, gave prices ranges from Used-New, and said what it does well, or list pros/cons, it's fairly obvious that it would cut back on some of these cookie cutter threads

Miek 10-26-2006 02:36 PM

Still, nubs wouldn't look at it, and that's where we get the majority of our amp threads

And even the people that know it's there will still make threads.

kurrpt2 10-26-2006 02:37 PM

in which case the mod closes said thread, and posts a link to a specific thread

Miek 10-26-2006 02:37 PM

Yeah, but the threads are still there.

The Black Fist 10-26-2006 02:39 PM

The whole argument about any sort of 'OFFICILOL" thread is that nubs wouldn't use it. They'd either not notice it (because people are dumb like that), or they would read it but feel that they're special and that their situation doesn't apply.

moral of the story- nubs are dumb and think that they're special and unique.

edit; It takes about as much effort for me to close a thread and link to the existing thread as it takes for someone to just answer the question, and then we're not running a Nazi ship.

overturned 10-26-2006 02:42 PM

I think at the end of the day, we could do with an official announcement, that being that "The Black Fist (+ 3) Gets Even More Grim" and brings down the ban and close hammer with a bit more force. So in the end we have the look of a "No Shit" policy instead of " A Bit Of Shit" policy.

The Black Fist 10-26-2006 02:45 PM

I respect any idea that involves TBF getting even more grim

Hate Crew Deathroll 10-26-2006 03:47 PM

TBF, can you just open up all the threads in R&M that were closed so everyone can continue with normal forum life. I mean he closed the Metallica thread, now what? Start a new one and carry on the discussion? What's the point in doing that when we can use the same one. Plz.

kurrpt2 10-26-2006 03:59 PM

i think they are just trying to keep the conversation in those threads on-track...

that, and to save band width, apparently

The Black Fist 10-26-2006 04:02 PM

I don't go to R&M (ever), I don't know how the forum works, I don't know the mods there, and I don't know their motivation for closing the threads. I suggest taking this up in, say, R&M?

Aes820 10-26-2006 06:06 PM

The less stickied threads and the less 'official' threads we have the better.

Well, i don't mind the occasional official thread, like the 7 string or the Blues threads, but they aint going to be stickied.

mnemonic 10-26-2006 09:03 PM

how about an official post your setups thread?

that was the only sticky i ever liked

motogrifo 10-26-2006 09:59 PM

how about a ban sticky?
TBF makes a thread, where in the first post he says: "any stupid noob who posts here will be inmediately perma-banned"

let's see how many guys post there

I_go_by_mikee 10-26-2006 10:18 PM
how about an official post your setups thread?

i think this sohuld be brought back also.

they were good threads. but we should all brainstorm an idea for a good one, because none of the ideas really stuck.

mnemonic 10-26-2006 10:27 PM

i like hte idea behid mm's setups thread. organized. like the ones before it.

i just think that it died becuse once everyone posted all their gear in it, nobody had anything else to say. and new people have came, and people have got new amps since it was on the first page. i mean, according to that thread, used has a v3 and a stiletto, and he doesnt have either of those anymore.

Royd Rage 10-27-2006 02:04 PM

we should put a thread where it shows what people were banned, why and how long. than no can complain that they don't understand why they were banned.

sputnik has that thread and it is working well.

thickasabrick 10-27-2006 07:50 PM

Roy, isn't there a thread like that in like the "site" section or something.
