I come back here every once in a while.

It's a really too bad this place went downhill, it used to be such a thriving community. Kudos to those that still stick around, I just find it to be such a shame that some posts on the front page are from May, when the first 3 pages used to be riddled with posts from "Today".

I saw Myung and :amaze: do a couple threads about popping back in here, thought I'd do the same & give a shoutout to those who have been here from the beginning (my original User was Bass_guy33, got banned for some reason). The bass comps, the slap comps, the bass awards...

Anyways. I don't actually play bass that much anymore, but I did a Mark King cover not too long ago out of boredom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95a6tHrGSfU Scope it out if ya like.

Cheers boys, all the best.

I find it sad but wonder where most of the people went too... I will be with these forums until the day it dies for good. I don't post much in the bass forum anymore but I've been playing quite a bit this summer. I get spurty but I graduated college with a business management degree and Audio Recording Engineering. It's good to see you back.

ExitEntity 07-19-2011 10:30 AM

Welcome back, even though I do not know you really!

I am a new user on this forum but it's been great. I will definitely help keep it alive!

Bass_guy333 07-19-2011 01:52 PM

Weird, I also went to school for Audio Engineering. I now do FOH for some pretty big bands in Canada, and some in studio work.

Understanding In a Crash, what was your original username?

Understanding In a Crash 07-19-2011 03:09 PM

This has always been my original username lol. Yeah I'm trying to do post-production for movie sound and also studio work for bands. I also enjoy doing live sound for venues as well.

BenJammin 07-19-2011 06:12 PM

i'm always lurking, but rarely find anything worth saying these days. i've gone through a lot of shit in my life since the winter, and haven't touched my bass for more than a few minutes at a time since February.

Understanding In a Crash 07-20-2011 02:52 AM

I remember both of you guys. Hopefully someday these forums can be ressurrected...

H flat 09-06-2011 06:21 PM

Holy crap, I haven't been here in forever. Just decided to browse this forum for the first time in a couple years and this thread was on the first page.

I definitely remember you, Bass_guy333. The bass comps were an absolute blast.

These days I lurk/post at Talkbass. I occasionally take lessons with Adam Neely, who used to post here a ton.

BenJammin 09-06-2011 06:56 PM

what's Adam up to these days?

H flat 09-06-2011 07:12 PM

I think he went to Berklee but am not positive. He's still rocking an Ibanez and seems to be doing quite well for himself. He's grown to be a very, very expressive player and has a great mix of technique, theory, and groove while playing. Definitely leaps and bounds above what he was doing in the early '00s when we were all hanging around here.

I have to confess that I spent the last hour reading my post history way back to 2004. I was a very, very dumb and naïve high school kid back in those days. I'd like to hope that I have matured in the time since MXtabs died and I am very sorry for all the posters who had to put up with my dumb brat self.

Dez_Axer 09-08-2011 03:16 PM

i miss the old mxtabs.net, but I stop in about once a year

Duncster 09-09-2011 10:48 AM

good to hear your making a living in the music industry in canada :thumb: i figured you would.

Bassinator89 09-13-2011 03:47 PM

old school thread is old school

Pluperfect_Arson 09-18-2011 07:41 PM

I am only posting so you can all have something to look at.

Saberpunk 09-21-2011 02:42 AM

There's a lot of us still lurking around, just nothing really happening anymore

BenJammin 09-21-2011 07:58 AM

lol gav points

FunkMetalBass 09-21-2011 10:08 AM

D00d, I wished I had more gav points. I only ever got 1. Sad days indeed.

Saberpunk 09-23-2011 01:36 AM

Haha, yeah that's how log its actually been since i've even logged in to post, is Gav still on here, or even post on occasion?

BenJammin 09-23-2011 07:42 AM

no, I think Gav disappeared after his accidental almost-suicide and the subsequent ridiculing that followed it.

FunkMetalBass 09-23-2011 08:35 AM

Didn't he claim to have cut his wrist quite badly on a doorknob after tripping and falling into it?

fatbandit 09-23-2011 02:39 PM

I thought it was a knife? I kind of missed that whole thing though! Anyone got the thread? I'm too lazy to search :p

FunkMetalBass 09-23-2011 04:53 PM

What the hell was gav's username?

EDIT: Found the thread (by pure fucking luck)

I seem to recall he accidentally slit his wrist trying to cut a bottle to make a bong.

Saberpunk 09-25-2011 02:57 AM

Oh wow, i actually do remember that, just totally slipped my mind

AlmightyPancake 09-28-2011 03:35 PM

I just realized I still remembered my password for this site... It's been almost 4 years :p

Dude, didn't I just see you over at TalkBass?

Riouken 10-01-2011 08:01 PM

Hey Bass_guy33! I definitely remember you.

I look around here every few months.

thelowsoundofbass 10-18-2011 11:43 AM

Wow, Bass_guy. I haven't been here in a long time either, over a year I think. I am a regular poster on Talkbass, but I gradually fell away from posting here. What bands are you working with in Canada?

lowsound

thelowsoundofbass 10-18-2011 11:44 AM

OH WOW! That is an old picture, that was taken the day I got my dreads and I haven't had them in over three years now.

lowsound

FunkMetalBass 10-19-2011 10:34 AM

I always wanted dreads.
