CAGE
I've mentioned this before. I find Cage to be the only Christian oriented band I can enjoy. Even a lot. They don't get all preachy, holier than thou, and have excellent music, plus they're from San Diego which raises their awesomeness even more.
LOL, Stryper. Talk about shitfest, amirite?
TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL!

 Styrper is ridiculous

Dimmu Burger 07-29-2007 02:15 PM

I really enjoy Becoming The Archetype as well. I also enjoy:

Norma Jean
The Chariot
Maylene & the Sons of Disaster
Anberlin
As I Lay Dying
Blindside
Dead Poetic
Emery
Mae

Shattered_Future 07-29-2007 02:41 PM

Actually, I have to say my favorite Christian rock band ever is Faith +1.

Shred Danson 07-29-2007 02:51 PM
With Blood Comes Cleansing. Great Christian DM.
Shut up.

You want Christian Death Metal, look up Tortured Conscience (though they're not that great and the lyrics are OVERLY preachy, even for a christian band)
This thread should be closed.
Well if people could actually seriously discuss Christian music without trying to be funny and/or assholes..I mean yes there is some horrible Christian music, but not all Christian music sucks. Aletheian is probably one of the best bands I have heard in the "Christian" metal catergory. Christian black metal isn't even that bad, though it does seem like an oxymoron, yes, and it will get slammed endlessly by the critics.

Invicta_Veritas 07-29-2007 03:00 PM

You have got to be kidding me. WBCC is nothing but DM. Unless they just put out a new one recently that sucks balls. But thier first and to my knowledge only album is straight American DM.

Shred Danson 07-29-2007 03:05 PM

Not really, man.

They're just another "deathcore" band.

Trust me dude, we've toured with them, they're basically a bunch of hardcore kids playing heavy music and calling it death metal just because it's "br00tal".

Invicta_Veritas 07-29-2007 03:07 PM

Oh.

Well, I personally think it's pretty DM sounding (most of it anyway, aside from the generic breakdown from time to time), but it doesn't surprise me that they're typical harcore kids.

encmetalhead 07-29-2007 03:30 PM

a lot of bands these days have hardcore roots so you're pretty much going to have to deal with ti till the 90's kids get old enough to become big with their grunge/post-grunge inspired music
With Blood Comes Cleansing. Great Christian DM.

a lot of bands these days have hardcore roots
Um, no they don't.

Invicta_Veritas 07-29-2007 03:49 PM

Uh, Trev, that wasn't entirely untrue...

Shred Danson 07-29-2007 03:54 PM

Do you know what hardcore is?

blahsunghoon 07-29-2007 03:55 PM

uh.. i like extol

Nepenthe 07-29-2007 10:37 PM

sixner 07-29-2007 11:07 PM

I actually travel with a very "up and coming" type Christian metal band...

Decypher Down named them the regional "Top Dog"
Just played with Bride on Saturday.

Sort of like a christian KSE meet In Flames or so...
The songs up dont do justice. New album out soon. Heavier, more technical.. overall Better.

Leukeh 07-29-2007 11:32 PM

My favourite would have to be Demon Hunter... then Skillet following closely behind.

Shred Danson 07-29-2007 11:42 PM

Jesus Christ, Demon Hunter is terrible.

And I know Jesus Christ knows it.

Jude 07-30-2007 06:32 AM

I don't know why, but for some reason any band that specifies itself as "Christian" always rocks less hard and is less good than an equivalent band which does not, even if that equivalent band had all Christian members. The guitars just hit that much less hard, the melodies are that much blander...it baffles me why, but Christian rock is just never good.

I don't think I really agree with that.

But Demon Hunter is horrible. I used to like Skillet a bit though.

Becoming The Archetype is as good as anything out there though.

Jude 07-30-2007 07:32 AM

You really can't name me a good rock band which identifies itself as "Christian" more than as just a rock band.

I don't know or care shi about metal so leave any metal bands out of it.

So you're saying there are no christian rock bands that are more than just rock bands? Confusion!

Invicta_Veritas 07-30-2007 08:03 AM

That's an incredibly blanket statement.

12 Stones, for example, is an incridible talented, great melodic Christian rock band.

Demonhunter's first album was ace, the rest is crap.

Dimmu Burger 07-30-2007 08:55 AM

12 Stones' first album was great, but the second one was horrible.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-30-2007 09:04 AM

There is some Doom band I used to listen to that were apparently Christian and they were pretty good. I can't remember their name, though.

DECYFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, heh, just they're from my state and i don't let the misspellings for that band go by

jrowa001 07-30-2007 09:21 AM

Blindside are a great rock band and can rock harder than a lot other rock bands. great live too, their singer portrays a lot of emotion
