What artist(s) have gotten you through some of the hardest situations in your life?

For me, it was Shinedown, Lacuna Coil, Scar Symmetry, aaaaaand...I know there's one more...oh, Insomnium! Don't know how I forgot them. They're one of my favorite bands.

Anyway, how about you guys?

Paysage D'Hiver, the ambient Burzum tracks from Hvis and Filosofem, a good set of headphones and weed.

To be fair, If You Only Knew got me through a couple of meh times, but nothing serious

slipnslide 01-08-2013 05:43 PM

Explosions in the sky chilled me out when i was tripping on a half ounce of perfectly legal oyster mushrooms once.

Is this what we are looking for?

Around the Fur by the Deftones circa 2005-2006. I was a depressed adolescent male student in middle school. Enough said.

My shit changes usually every years but this much has stuck with me for the down moments in my life
A Perfect Circle-Thirteenth Step
Murder By Death-Who Will Survive
O'Brother-Garden Window
Tool-Aenima
Deicide-The Stench of Redemption(Not joking)

DatsNotDaMetulz 01-11-2013 12:44 AM

I listened to a LOT of Bullet For My Valentine when my dad died, that was my lowest ebb. Seriously a lot. Mainly The Poison. I tend to avoid that album now cos the attachment to it but I do hold it in incredibly high esteem because of that now.

Nowadays it's mostly Devy.

FrozenVain 01-11-2013 10:38 AM

Scar Symmetry is a great band no doubt, but they haven't really "helped me through tough times". I would say Moonsorrow.

Also Replica by Sonata Arctica and Deep Affection by Galneryus. Great songs.

Darkthrone or GTFO

rtuwe 01-27-2013 12:13 PM

Korn got me through a lot of stuff! I've stopped listening to them now though, just grown distant from their music

HypoLuxa 02-01-2013 09:02 AM

Type O Negative
The Who
Operation Ivy
Primus
sisters of mercy
the jam

there are specific albums from these bands that get me through moods or at least get me through the day

bigwigglystyle 02-01-2013 09:35 AM

The Devil Wears Prada, Of Mice & Men, Suicide Silence, etc

cyanidepope 02-02-2013 01:09 AM

johnny cash got me through that one time the pigs pulled me over under probable suspicion of me being "drunk", so I passed the "walk in a line" test and nailed their lame "road-side evaluation"

Tritone 02-02-2013 03:49 PM

Neutral Milk Hotel-In an Airplane over the Sea. Very emotional album for me.

MrMadman 02-03-2013 05:09 PM

Long as i can see the light by CCR. So calm

LivingThrowaway 02-04-2013 11:58 PM

the art of taste considered as a whole, the artist specifically is my own taste

same with everyone else, your possibilities available to you make you the real artist, considering how you use music to make an experience in life
