MattyBlade 03-03-2005 10:57 AM
Matt: Close and it's not Kingston, Jamaica either. Sorry - it's in England. Basically a suburb of London. I resolve to be more clear from now on.

Glad you liked the track.
:upset: there's no metal scene around here.

Kyle 03-03-2005 11:00 AM

Im quite into some stoner rock. If that includes like orange goblin, fu manchu and nebula, these are my top 3 stoner rocks unless i have the genre all wrong. Also Queens of the stoneage's older stuff is kinda cool.

Shred Danson 03-03-2005 11:03 AM

Jondur-Is there any way I can DOWNLOAD a song from you guys, this computer has no speakers, and I don't have the internet at home (loses at life).

No, you need to have speakers to listen to music and you need to have the internet to download it to your computer with speakers. (unless you have a burner at work or something)

on a side note: what's the website to get a long user title :amaze:

Right-O I'm off. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to post some links to some classic doom. That's if this thread hasn't dissappeared to page 97 by then.

Give me Beer 03-03-2005 05:07 PM

Oh oh, Doom and Stoner, that's right up my alley :)

Los Natas is the band I'd like to promote here, http://www.losnatas.com . Check 'm out, in my opinion the best rock group since, well, Kyuss.

Oh yea, and have you guys heard that Yawningman started touring again and recently released an album? For those not in the know, Yawningman was the first band of Alfredo Hernandez, ex-Kyuss drummer and ex-QOTSA, Orquesta del Desierto, with I think the guy from Fatso Jetson on guitar. They first recorded Catamaran, if you're a Kyuss fan you'll know that song. :) Check out the new track on stonerrock.com.

Rock!

Txus 03-03-2005 05:12 PM

kyuss is the best stoner / doom metal ever for me!!

br3ad_man 03-03-2005 05:17 PM
So yeah... Anyone like the Melvins?

...Melvins?
It's good when you read the whole thread :p

RetiredAt21 03-03-2005 05:21 PM

Hahaha, I love the Melvins. Didn't really ever think of them as stoner/doom metal though...

drummerman 03-03-2005 08:52 PM

My favorite stoner rock bands are kyuss and nebula.

wearer of socks 03-03-2005 09:28 PM

ive been obsessed with neurosis lately. Ive also recently purchased the candlemass dvd and i like it a lot.

Jondur 03-04-2005 03:15 AM
That Doom song is maybe the best thing since Black Sabbath, who is the band?!
That, my friend, is The Gates of Slumber. And yes they are amazing! Their debut album is called "Awakening" and it's out on Final Chapter Records.

Jondur 03-04-2005 05:26 AM

Ok, as promised here are some songs by some of the best bands in Doom Metal. I hope you enjoy them. Feedback and discussion would be good. I may post some more later depending on response.

Reverend Bizarre "Doomsower"

This Finnish band are literally the hottest property in doom metal right now. And quite rightly so. Spot the Reagers style vocals and bass heavy riffs. A great live band too.

While Heaven Wept "The Drowning Years"

WHW are at the progressive end of Epic Doom Metal. They've been going ages and singer Tom Philips is one of the best around.

Candlemass "Under the Oak"

Legends! If you don't like Candlemass, then there's quite frankly something wrong with you. From the debut album - they got even better when Messiah Marcolin joined.

Solstice "Cromlech"

Solstice are one of my favourite bands. Its doom mixed with NWOBHM and it's ace!

Orodruin "Peasant's Lament"

Another new band who are great. Taken from their debut "Epicurian Mass" - old school doom holocaust!

St Vitus "Born Too Late"

No discussion of doom can be undertaken without St Vitus!

superpeer 03-04-2005 05:37 AM
It's good when you read the whole thread :p
I did read that, actually, I just chose to remind everyone. :)

Squirrel 03-04-2005 05:39 AM

I have a bit of a liking for the Melvins, but i really have to be in the mood for them. I got into them after Fantomas strangely enough.

I also have 2 Cathedral albums, i assume they fall in this catagory.

Jondur 03-04-2005 05:40 AM

It depends which two you have! If it's the first two they fall into doom if it's any later then it's crap, sorry I mean more stoner.

Squirrel 03-04-2005 05:43 AM

Heh, I have Forest of Equilibrium and The Ethereal Mirror, so yeah, the first 2 :)

Whats Caravan Beyond Redemption like ?
