Sonic Youth vs. Nirvana vs. Pixies
 

Which would you go for?

Pixies by about 70.

That's what I went for.

Interestingly, Nevermind is at number 18 in the UK album charts. Virgin Megastores, HMV, and a few stored have discounted it to £4.99-£5.99

Don't like Sonic Youth, Nirvana's alright, Pixies are pretty good. I'll have to go with Pixies.

Man, Pixies were my favourite band for ages, but i like Sonic Youth about the same now, and Pavement just a little bit more than them.

All of them > Nirvana, but i still like them

although I have liked Sonic Youth for longer and find them to be more talented, they can really piss me off at times.
That and Kim Gordon isn't in the Pixies.

Nirvana = suckage.
Sonic Youth = Not bad, but highly over rated.
The Pixies = Ok, also highly over rated.

As you can see, I'm not a big fan of any of those bands.

Neither are overrated. I know hardly any people in real life that know sonic youth, and people only know the pixies because they've just started becoming popular again. A year ago, noone here did.

Im glad Nirvana arent in the lead. I hate them, hate them.

I strongly dislike Sonic Youth and Nirvana, and absolutely love Pixies.

I like Nirvana. Though Kurt is terrible at guitar and you cant understand what he's saying half of the time but there is something about Nirvana that i like more the sonic youth and pixies

i like sonic youth, but they write a lot of garbage noise songs. maybe i'm missing the whole point or something. they're talented no question, thurston moore is a solid guitarist, but overall, i like nirvana better. kurt cobain is a brilliant songwriter, his singing goes perfectly with the music he plays, and he's a better guitarist than most people realize. not saying he's one of the best or anything, but he's not as terrible as people think.

as far as the pixies go, they're pretty good, need to listen to them more though.

You shame the names of Sonic Youth and The Pixies by associating them with crap like Nirvana.

er... did you just throw Sonic Youth in for kicks? They have about... zero relation to Pixies or Nirvana (Other than helping Nirvana get signed)... both Pixies and Nirvana wrote kinda standard songs in terms of structure (Not saying thats bad at all, btw) but Sonic Youth threw all that out the window and created something new...

Nirvana vs. Pixies I can see (Since all Nirvana did was steal the Pixies formula and add teenage angst) but Sonic Youth really has no place in this.

This is pretty much my stance. I like Daydream Nation and Jim O'Rourke's so I voted Sonic Youth, but I really could care less.

I'd say Nirvana, then Sonic Youth.

I like the Pixies, but obviously not on the level as most people in this forum.
