Hardcore bands with spiritual/religious influence
Name em, discuss em, discuss religion in hardcore
Bad Brains, Shelter, 108... I'm not sure what sort of beliefs Inside Out had as a band or Zach has...also I know John Joseph (Cro-Mags) was part of the Hare Krishna movement but I don't know about how/if this was a part of the Cro-Mags...so fill me in also, Burn? |
Soul Brains lol
|
I saw a pretty interesting blog about this on Vic DiCara (Inside Out, 108)'s myspace, but blogs aren't showing up right now. Read it sometime.

Hinduism is some pretty interesting shit. Been reading up on it lately.
|
I've always planned to read up on different religions, never get around to it though.

Life is better off without religion.

Depends on what religion it is. |
Read the Bhagavad Gita. Words of Krishna, basically a big long poem (not too long though). Endorsed by Ghandi.

All religion does is cloud your mind, figure shit out on your own. |

Norse Heathenism=beer, axes, killing and burning shit down. Gotta love it. |
There's a ton of metalcore bands that are Christian. Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, Sinai Beach. I've heard Evergreen Terrace's older stuff is Christian, but I find that hard to believe.
I don't really care about what a band is into as long as they play good music. |

Keep christianity out of hardcore.
|
Christianity has as much of a right in hardcore as any other ideology, set of beliefs, or subject period.

...why? I don't know if you're attacking my bad music taste or if you're attacking the fact that I look for music quality, not just crappy lyrics. |

Jimmy Yu from Judge left the band to tour the world with a Zen monk or something.
Not that it has anything to do with the actual band but... |
