Hardcore bands with spiritual/religious influence

Name em, discuss em, discuss religion in hardcore

Bad Brains, Shelter, 108...

I'm not sure what sort of beliefs Inside Out had as a band or Zach has...also I know John Joseph (Cro-Mags) was part of the Hare Krishna movement but I don't know about how/if this was a part of the Cro-Mags...so fill me in

also, Burn?

BuddyBigsby 12-27-2005 10:57 PM

A-Life-Less-Plagued 12-27-2005 11:00 PM

I saw a pretty interesting blog about this on Vic DiCara (Inside Out, 108)'s myspace, but blogs aren't showing up right now. Read it sometime.

Hah Krishna! One time after a show some dude gave me 2 Krishna books. I threw them out.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 12-27-2005 11:40 PM

Hinduism is some pretty interesting shit. Been reading up on it lately.

The Great Decay 12-27-2005 11:42 PM

I've always planned to read up on different religions, never get around to it though.

Let's Chop Cats! 12-27-2005 11:42 PM

Life is better off without religion.

Depends on what religion it is.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 12-27-2005 11:43 PM

Read the Bhagavad Gita. Words of Krishna, basically a big long poem (not too long though). Endorsed by Ghandi.

All religion does is cloud your mind, figure shit out on your own.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 12-27-2005 11:46 PM

it's mad interesting though

There's a ton of metalcore bands that are Christian. Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, Sinai Beach. I've heard Evergreen Terrace's older stuff is Christian, but I find that hard to believe.

I don't really care about what a band is into as long as they play good music.

yo, shut up

Let's Chop Cats! 12-28-2005 12:03 AM

Keep christianity out of hardcore.

BuddyBigsby 12-28-2005 12:07 AM

Christianity has as much of a right in hardcore as any other ideology, set of beliefs, or subject period.

...why?

I don't know if you're attacking my bad music taste or if you're attacking the fact that I look for music quality, not just crappy lyrics.

Fabz 12-28-2005 12:39 AM

Agnostic Front

A-Life-Less-Plagued 12-28-2005 12:39 AM

Madball.................

RouteOne 12-28-2005 12:42 AM

I foget which song, but madball has one that begins with "GOD SAVE ME!" or something to that nature. Very cheesey.

INTEGRITY

Berserker! 12-28-2005 04:38 AM

Jimmy Yu from Judge left the band to tour the world with a Zen monk or something.

Not that it has anything to do with the actual band but...

srt-4 12-28-2005 04:39 AM

and you should hear the crazy tour stories those two have

TakeWarning 12-28-2005 08:09 AM

Underoath.

RCVA 12-28-2005 09:37 AM

The thread's about hardcore bands.
The thread's about hardcore bands.
I was joking, I've only ever heard Underoath once, and that was some song just shouting "I love you Jesus Christ" over and over.

RCVA 12-28-2005 09:46 AM

Sorry i didn't get it. I've only heard one song too. It was horrible.

TakeWarning 12-28-2005 10:01 AM
Sorry i didn't get it. I've only heard one song too. It was horrible.
As soon as I heard "I love you Jesus Christ" I vowed never to listen to them again.
INTEGRITY
shit, totally overlooked integ

ThePassionOfTheKasey 12-28-2005 03:23 PM

Bands have every right to sing about whatever they want. People have every right to chose not to listen to them for that reason. No one has any right to say that they don't belong.

Let's Chop Cats! 12-28-2005 03:24 PM
