nope looks and sounds like something by a bunch of rich kids who think they have something new, want to rebel and offend and are oblivious to the rest of the entire worlds music and video scene |
nope
looks and sounds like something by a bunch of rich kids who think they have something new, want to rebel and offend and are oblivious to the rest of the entire worlds music and video scene
sweet! cool genre to be in. it was crowdfunded by the bands fans. and they subsequently showed up to be in it. peace&love |
i liked some of the imagery. and it sounds like the band have a hardcore following. is it local? i could google it but i'd rather hear about it from you. makes forums worthwhile if you know what i mean.
imagery, thats where bands can differentiate a little because it is so less constrained than musical instruments. but it needs serious thought http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q77YBmtd2Rw |
Nope.
|
yeah, it's local to Sydney, Australia. Image needs to be/should be managed...in your opinion. I understand fully.
Here's their crowdfunding thing.. http://pozible.com/rockethead |
Out of interest, what would you guys classify as punk? and for what reasons?

i'm going to say that punk aint some fashion or genre of music. sure there are a lot of elements that contribute but at the end of the day punk means thinking for yourself. for me anyway. i think i would throw in some anarchical beliefs that i find suitable to the way i want to live my life and also tend to be anti corporation, anti government, anti racist, anti sexist and pro freedom |

Would you say that what you class as punk music upholds those beliefs within it's content then? |
sure
bowie, dylan, cohen hobo, stza, strummer, sullivan punk as fuck |
Fair one, yeah i can see that, some of those like Dylan are less the 'traditional' sound people have come to think of when they consider punk i think but their lyrical content is definitely embodying those beliefs. How do you reckon those beliefs/ that music influences society then? Does it bring people with similar ideas together?
|
it inspires me think i am not alone surrounded by the cretinous herd swamped in mass mild control tactics. but i don't see it influencing things. people get confused with distractions supporting protests and stuff when it has little or no consequence
i've always found that the local punk scene is vibrant and influential and probably more since the advent of the internet and file sharing. so it does bring people together |
For you then music is a tool that brings you together, within the local punk scene, with other like minded people? its more a personal thing than it is a larger social influencer
|
punk means thinking for yourself
its usually a very visible badge; identity but its not some cult religion that is dictated by the badge thats just the attraction, the lighthouse i've never met a real punk that i don't like |

Punk has a definite identity wether its musically or visually. Some of the best punk bands are pretty bad musicians but their message and attitude is what creates a following. Im a big metal head too but metal hardly delivers a message other than worshipping satan and eating babies. Which is cool, its a very tight genre. Im a punk at heart however and Ill listen to the simplicity of punk over the technicallity of Metal any day. |
spot on
probably only few real punks left around here the rest are just plastic nazi punks fuck off bunch of jocks passing through a phase that they thinks its cool fuck arseholes pop fucking punk, what a fucking contradiction, take it to the pop forum |
pop punk has to be one of the worst forms of music out today. I don't get it, its annoying and nothing more than a fashion statement. Still get to see a few punk shows around here yearly. Murphys Law, The Business, Cock Sparrer, The Meatmen, DRI, and Antiseen. Usually you just get old NY HC bands but thats still acceptable.
|
yeah, saw cock sparrer
saw jello last year see loc and sfh a fair bit plus they usually hang out for a few days when they're over see inner t's a fair bit too apart from that its local scene stuff i'm not bothered with the crAss conflict dick fish stuff. leave punk alone and be hippies if you want to be the that smelly oh, and saw amebix here and in new york, that was incredible and then i go see new model army and justin sullivan any chance i get and pop punk; queers whose mummies or girlfriends won't let them in the real scene |
there isnt really a punk scene in Philly but there was about 10-15 years ago. Actually there is no scene in philly unless its hipster indie rock.
I hate to admit it but it's worht the trip to see shows in NY. |
yeah
and they are nice people if you are visiting just like boston too |
Cool clip. :)
I wouldn't classify it as punk mainly because it does not make me think of punk bands I know. A lot more like a rock band genre and the voice makes me think of Motorhead's Lenny. So... no. |
