pixiesfanyo 09-13-2009 03:40 PM

audiences totally ruin shows. when i went and saw Flying Lotus it was a bunch of white kids in MGMT shirts grinding. so lame. least i was near blacks.

Time 09-13-2009 03:43 PM

well 9:30 club will have a shitload of hipsters no matter what show it is. i figure The Weakerthans will be back around here relatively soon and Yo La Tengo is getting old so might as well see them

cbmartinez 09-13-2009 04:20 PM

ive heard yo la tengo is really good live, I've always been lukewarm about them on record but a friend suggested i go see them because of their live show

anyway, can anyone recommend a good place to start with Songs: Ohia?

cbmartinez 09-13-2009 04:21 PM

also, new cass mccombs is one of my faves of the year, ppl who like jens and stuff should check it out

honourosis 09-13-2009 06:10 PM

cass mccombs sucks.

dangers - anger
the suicide file - twilight
belle epoque - a la derive

i can't believe its taken me this long to listen to these

pixiesfanyo 09-13-2009 06:40 PM

first two are two of my favorite hardcore records ever.

I'd start out with Didn't it Rain?, my personal favorite. Magnolia Electric Co. wouldn't be bad either.

Also check out his stuff under the Jason Molina and Magnolia Electric Co. monikers. Neither are bad.

I've been hitting the Menomena, Pinback, So Many Dynamos, and Portugal. The Man pretty hard lately. The new PTM album's first two songs are sick, the rest I don't care too much for.

Anybody have any suggestions for bands like the above? All the new stuff I've picked up has been pretty lame lately.
