The Ocean (Collective)

I don't know if a thread was made for this band as of yet.
I searched around beforehand to be sure, but if I skimmed by it then I suppose this one can be locked?

Anyways, these guys are great.

Their new double disk concept album is one hell of a musical journey if I do say so myself.

Who else digs these guys?

rid 11-02-2008 06:03 AM

Mememe.

Love this band, Fluxion and Aeolion being my favorite albums, Precambrian somewhat disappointing. Can't really listen to just one song much, it's a lot better as a whole album.

Still haven't seen them live. =/

botb 11-02-2008 11:20 AM

precambrian/aeolion rules hard.

Correction 11-02-2008 11:24 AM

album's alright

McP3000 11-02-2008 01:07 PM

I'm confused, are they named "The Ocean" or "The Ocean Collective" officially?

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 01:22 PM

It's weird.
I think they refer to themselves as a whole as "The Ocean Collective" but on their albums I suppose they only list themselves as the Ocean.

The_Mop 11-02-2008 01:29 PM

Yeah, the ocean are bloody awesome, been listening to them for a couple of years now, they were proper awesome live at hellfest.

Unfortunatly, I was going to go to the Opeth supported by Cynic + The Ocean gig (3 of my favourite bands ever!) but as it turns out I can't go :(

The Ocean is the band, the collective is the bunch of guys in the band, let's put it that way. :p

so just The Ocean...

Dimmu Burger 11-02-2008 04:03 PM

I've been meaning to get into these guys, but didn't get a chance. I'll have to hit that up tomorrow morning.

Altmer 11-02-2008 04:16 PM

I am seeing them with Opeth and Cynic. ****ing stoked about that.

Angmar 11-02-2008 04:25 PM

lucky

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 06:22 PM

-edit-

rid 11-02-2008 06:23 PM

well it's been sent, copy/pasted the email address, so that's not wrong.

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 06:28 PM

Okay, thanks a bunch.
In case for some strange reason I don't it, do you have aim?

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 06:32 PM

I did get it.
I tried downloading Fluxion from rapidshare before, but every time I did, it said in order to hear each song I had to type in an encryption code.

Thor 11-02-2008 06:33 PM

Precambrian is all kinds of amazing. Arguably 2007's finest in metal.

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 06:35 PM

Second to "Colors" by BtBaM methinks.

rid 11-02-2008 06:39 PM

oh, maybe I do, haha. hm dont remember my sn though, give me yours and I'll add you sometime (?)

//edit

click the damn FREE thing, wait for it to finish the countdown, click download, type in the PW when it asks for it during extraction, listen to the awesomeness.

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 06:43 PM

Thanks rid. I gots it.
It's great.

rid 11-02-2008 06:43 PM

good. :p

Correction 11-02-2008 06:44 PM

you might want to edit your email address out before i send you a bunch of porn spam and then eventually a virus

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 06:53 PM

Has anyone else here heard their debut "Island/Tides"?
It's one hell of an album just like all of their other work.

I haven't really sat down and listened to "Fogdiver" in its entirety yet.

EDIT: I usually don't use that address ever.

rid 11-02-2008 07:16 PM

Yes, heard everything. :p :)

this this this

McP3000 11-02-2008 08:54 PM

i have Precambrian on my comp, but it being so long has kept me at bay from actually getting around to listening to it.

i really need to though.

Thor 11-02-2008 10:37 PM

Yeah it's one of the more draining listens I have, but it's oh so worth it.

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 10:38 PM
this this this
Was that meant to imply that you fail to concur?

Thor 11-02-2008 10:39 PM

...no that means I actually couldn't agree more.

DJTeeLay 11-02-2008 10:46 PM

Oh gotcha.
I didn't know what you meant, sorry.

The Ocean definitely is more atmospheric than Between the Buried and Me but that probably has a tiny bit to do with their unfair size advantage.

The_Mop 11-03-2008 02:18 AM
Precambrian is all kinds of amazing. Arguably 2007's finest in metal.
This.

rid 11-03-2008 05:28 AM

For anyone who hasn't heard them before I would suggest listening to older stuff first, as Precambrian is something you need to listen through all the way, not a couple random songs on the album.

Thor 11-03-2008 07:38 AM

Well you can listen to Precambrian by disc. I frequently listen to the first disc only when I don't have 90 minutes to spare. :)

Shattered_Future 11-04-2008 12:58 AM

Fantastic band, quite angry I missed them in May.

exredhouseresident 11-04-2008 02:39 AM

I only have Precambrian, but its pretty dope. I've been meaning to get something else by them.
