New Bass (kind of)
So... I picked her up today!!
http://photobucket.com/albums/y20/jamie_pyrite/Monica/ ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! Much much better than I expected (not that I expected little from Jon Shuker!!) but it sounds amazing with the active EMGs (massive sound difference compared to EMG-HZs), the neck feels absolutely brilliant. It feels earthy and natural like a warwick, but has the slim and fast profile of a jazz bass. I couldn't possibly be happier! Jon is a really nice guy and we ended up chatting for ages about allsorts! From cars to shipping and taxes from America! Very very knowledgable man and I was very very impressed by all the other basses he had there. If you're ever in Sheffield, give him a ring and go and see him if just for a chat and a try of his basses :) Also, ALEX: Did you get my text? Any questions or thoughts on it (good or bad!) ask/speak away! -Jamie NEW PICS UPLOADED. CLICK LINK ABOVE! |
wow
so gorgeous. |
Congrats Jamie. It looks beautiful.
|
Congrats on the bass! And the girl? :p
It's a shame that you give your bass a name.. May God have mercy on your soul! |
are those other basses in the photo album yours?
|
It looks a little different!
Although I'm not a huge fan of the headstock... |
The other pictures in the album are more Shukers right?
|
No, they're not his. They're from Shuker's shop.
Congrats Jamie! That's so amazing. EDIT: To Bryce |
I like the new headstock more then the original.
|
Btw, Jamie I have that same exact couch.:D
|
Looks cool. Notice any tonal diferences?
|
beautiful. congrats on the bass :thumb:
|
Looks nice man, congrats.
|
Anyone else think it looks like a Schecter with the exception of the headstock?
Sure, you'll buy one from him but not from me. I could have given you 3 times the bass for the same price. Kidding. Nice bass by the way. |
It is. He just had a neck built for his Schecter.
|
It is. He just had a neck built for his Schecter.
I know, that's why I said it.:thumb: |

Did you get it from SCS? :p Kilian: Tough!! :D |
Very nice man. :) Record with it soon!
|
<3 that bass
|
Im sure it plays great, but the headstock really isnt happening for me.
You also said it was gloss finished or something because the Satin wasnt very tough or something? Imo that wasnt such a great idea, Satin looks much nicer than gloss, and Id rather just be careful with my instruments than have them refinished in a less attractive finish for the sake of protecting them. But its your money, not mine, and you knew what you were getting, so I hope you are happy with it :) |
When you see the bass in life, you'll see the body looks just as good, if not better :D He also cleaned up the dints and bangs from previous owners.
Yeah, headstock seemed to be an aquired taste :) I personally love it :D And thanks! I'm really happy with it! Steve: Recordings shall come soon ;) |
Very nice, I bet she sounds beautiful, though i'm not digging the gold hardware. I think maybe black, clear, or some matching the body, would have looked better
|
^^^ black would have been waaaay too contrasting and out of place, clear hardware? you'd be able to see the pots and stuff! and to get tuners, bridge and knobs made of flame maple is a liiiiittle tricky :p
It still smells of the workshop :) |
Clear hardware?
|
congratz man. lucky *** bitch

take it easy pal, we're all friends here |
While I don't really agree with putting a custom neck on a Schecter, haha; it still looks absolutely gorgeous like that.
To whoever said the gold hardware clashes: Are you insane? Really, are you insane? It's a fantastic look, and I bet it plays great. The re-finishing is a MUST, I will say. Is yours more sturdy feeling now, Jamie? |
it looks sweet, and the headstocks are growing on me
lowsound |
Holy... ****
Screw you man, I mean, really, screw you. If it would have been a 5-er, I would have killed you. How much did that cost? I would love to buy a schecter custom 5 with a birdseye maple neck, but I am uncertain about the cost. |
Congrats on the bass! And the girl? :p
It's a shame that you give your bass a name.. May God have mercy on your soul!
No shame in naming your instrument. My bass is named Galatea. |
Headstock is fugly :/ Still looks nice though.
|
take it easy pal, we're all friends here
I meant it in a good way, pall
|
double post... But like I said. Nice bass. You must be a lucky man.
|
I think it looks very tasty with the maple neck. The headstock is nice too, I'm not a fan of the standard Schecter shape.

Is yours more sturdy feeling now, Jamie?
Yeah, I was kind of waiting on your opinion of it! :D The gold hardware isn't cheap bling looking gold, its satin gold I do believe, which is alot lot nicer and gives it an elogence instead of a tackyness. YES! The body feels really great and very strong compared to before! Before I could just lightly dig my nail in and there's a mark in it for life, but now its much stronger than that. The new finish has brought the wood out a bit more and it just feels like a totally new bass now! I need to find some Danish Oil for the neck... so I'll be popping upto B&Q to have a look for some later :) It was £250 for the neck, £50 for the full refinish, pickups were £30 and he installed them (including new pots, etc.) free of charge. :D |
Hot damn that's a fine looking instrument!
|
I cant really see enough of the neck to see the different, but congrats.

I've beat the hell out of my custom. Every night after gigs I'm in the workshop, fixing up all the dings and scratches. I think I'm going to seal the bass as well, sturdy it up a bit. |
