Celldweller > all. I have nothing more to say on the subject.

Meatplow 04-01-2010 11:49 PM

idk about that but they seem a decent enough industrial metal group from the couple of songs i've heard

have you heard Flesh Field? you might like Strain

TzarChasm 04-01-2010 11:53 PM

Not familiar; I'll have to look 'em up. Celldweller is a single-man project, which is crazy. The guy writes all of his own music, plays the instruments and as far as I know, supervises or performs all the production duties as well. Takes like five years to release an album, but when he does you know it's going to be perfect.

You would probably like this Aaron & Alex. They butcher Serge Gainsbourg & Brigette Bardot's Bonnie & Clyde though, they just loop the original song and speak english over it :p

Awkward pop indeed...

Jaundice 04-03-2010 09:50 AM

Lol, boy-girl pop duo with heavy irony and camp trash stylings is what the concept of awkward pop was based on before it got so concerned with being dark and difficult. I'll give this the obligatory listen probably some time today.

Dance Before The Police Come kind of catches you off gaurd doesnt it

Meatplow 04-03-2010 10:17 AM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6ZEmwGURko&feature=player_embedded

idk if you watched that but its pretty amazing

haven't listened to it yet I will tommorow

Jaundice 04-03-2010 10:19 AM

you'll probably like it

it has this The Land Of Rape and Honey feel in that it starts off with a couple standard old school rap joints and then randomly gives way to some 90's hardcore with samples and breakbeats out the ***

Meatplow 04-03-2010 10:21 AM

You have my interest.

Jaundice 04-03-2010 10:35 AM

All the track names are wrong on the link u gave me, i'll have to take a look at the song lenghths on discogs to put it in proper order

apparently Shut Up And Dance ! Records was an important underground force in the English rave scene

Meatplow 04-03-2010 10:51 AM

is it hardcore electronic, similar to SL2, Acen or early Prodigy?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXCN1DhHTZA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymMzjKKRefw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Qdp4hBYaa4

I have a taste for this sort of break led early 90's rave music, I want to fully investigate it

Jaundice 04-03-2010 10:55 AM

i've never heard any of those

but its definitely some breakbeat early hardcore type stuff, applied to somewhat of a hip hop context

Meatplow 04-03-2010 10:59 AM

i'm guessing dance before the police come is a reference to how there was a big kerfuffle about british raves getting shut down all the time

Shoddy Pleistocene Brain 04-03-2010 11:01 AM

Meatplow 04-03-2010 11:04 AM

It's all about the reversed sleeping patterns.

Jaundice 04-03-2010 12:33 PM

boiards of canada is cool

Meatplow 04-03-2010 12:39 PM

it took me so long time to warm up to BoC, now they are up there with my top 10 electronic projects I guess

Jaundice 04-03-2010 12:43 PM

reading about Sleeping Dogs Wake

boy-girl duo from Germany ? guess i don't have any other choice

Meatplow 04-03-2010 12:44 PM

Understanding wasn't a bad release

let me know if you can't find it

Jaundice 04-03-2010 12:50 PM

I just snagged it of some blog a minute or two ago.

**** but Music Has The Right to Children is a fun release. I'm about to start taking a look at more IDM / glitch, i've always had this closet repulsion

Shoddy Pleistocene Brain 04-03-2010 12:56 PM

An exclusive preview of the Stridsmodell full-length, to be announced

http://www.mediafire.com/?nzkdtutwcnw

Nepenthe 04-04-2010 01:48 PM

Meatplow 04-04-2010 08:46 PM

at least he didn't call them awkward pop

Jaundice 04-04-2010 10:04 PM

no i didn't call them IDM glitch i said ive been listening to IDM glitch

and yeah they're def IDM just not glitch

Meatplow 04-04-2010 10:07 PM

ambient is probably a more suitable term

but it is difficult to say
