Yes, Buzz Hargrove is a relative of his.
Ah, in Carleton County. I have a rough idea of where that is.

DaveSavesTheDay 03-21-2009 12:29 AM

My whole mom's side of the family is from Bathurst.
sweet, new strings yo.
I just put some fresh ones on my bass a week or so ago. Feels good to have tonal variety again. I'm still thinking those active EMGs are the way to go to really give it that sound it needs.

burtonbassist_102 03-21-2009 01:39 AM

yeah, that's true. what kinda strings you use?

Sablate McNuff 03-21-2009 01:42 AM

Mostly the EB Slinkies (orange) as their about the cheapest I've found and have a nice tone. I bought a pack of Fodera Heavy gauge that I'll put on after these EBs die out. I don't think the .130 B is tight enough at all.

You?

burtonbassist_102 03-21-2009 03:07 AM

i haven't really committed to a brand yet, i'm still trying different ones out. i used d'addarios for a long time, i really love their tone, but they die out rather quickly. i think i'm gonna venture into the world of ernie ball for a while (i got some super slinky 5's i'm excited to try out) and see how i like that.

oh god, I'm so sorry. :p

Jimbobntnr 03-21-2009 10:41 AM

what's up casual?

Spaceman Spiff 03-21-2009 10:42 AM

Oh my god. Last night was awesome. We totally ripped last night and had a pretty decent crowd and blew the other band out of the water.

We brought out about 40 people, they had... I don't know... 10, max? And it seemed most people actually really liked it. A bunch of people wanted albums after we played, including the sound guy at the show and the guy who booked it. The guy who booked it said he's definitely going to try to get us more shows.

We had people telling us that they're definitely coming out to our next show.

I'm just fully confident that this is the best we've ever been. Expect to see videos because we had the whole set filmed.
I'm in such an awesome mood.

BenJammin 03-21-2009 10:43 AM

Nice, Spiffers.

Sup Jayme?

Jimbobntnr 03-21-2009 10:45 AM

nada man. you?

Spaceman Spiff 03-21-2009 10:47 AM

And we each got 4 free beers for it all. That's as good as getting paid.

Yo Jamey and Ben.

BenJammin 03-21-2009 10:48 AM
nada man. you?
Basically the same. Just dragged my ass out of bed not too long ago, thinking about making a beer run. Typical Saturday, really.

Spaceman Spiff 03-21-2009 10:59 AM

Argh... I can't wait until the next show.

Seriously, this is what I love doing more than anything else... playing music.

Jimbobntnr 03-21-2009 11:06 AM

I have the top half of my engine torn apart and a case of coronas in the fridge. This is going to be the best saturday ever.

I signed on to play guitar in a surf band.

Glad to hear about your shows spiff, any youtubes up?

hahaha, good stuff.

Does the band have any recordings, or is it just something new?

I'll get all the videos up on youtube soon. This is a show I'm really proud of and I want you guys to see it.

Anybody know how to replace the battery in a digitech pedal? It doesn't have that knob on the end like every other pedal I've used, and the back plate says not to remove for it will void the warranty, so there must be another way.

Jimbobntnr 03-21-2009 11:13 AM

no, we haven't even had our first practice, or decided which songs. I'll keep you posted though.

no clue joe.

Does the front part, the pedal part, lift up? My old Ibanez synth bass did that.

I'm thinking it should, but I can just pull on it to lift it up.

It's like a computer. If you open it, you void the warranty, but you have to open it if you ever want to upgrade or replace anything on it.

That would be absolutely the stupidest thing I'd ever heard on a pedal. Besides, the back plate is held on my hex screws, so if I needed to replace the battery through there, wouldn't it make more sense to have phillips head screws?

That's cool. Do keep me updated on it.

By the way, we covered Gouge Away by the Pixies and Turnover by Fugazi. Some other songs, too, but especially those.
