Most likely advertising his own band.

I saw one moderators avatar that was HUGE. Is this a perk of being a moderator? Also, how do you become a moderator?

Thanks in advance.

Per Ardua Ad Astra 08-10-2004 12:50 PM

You become a mod, when MX (the admin of the site) appoints you because a certain forum needs help being run. You usually get to be a mod by being intelligent, and thinks like that. Yes, the Huge avatar is a perk of a moderator.

Kiedisfan69 08-10-2004 01:35 PM

Suggestion: Official Red Hot Chili Peppers thread. I'd make it myself but I know that only mods are supposed to make these. Yeah and I apologize if I'm like the hundreth person to suggest this. If there already is one of these, the search did not find it.

superpeer 08-10-2004 02:56 PM

I'm not too keen on any more official threads, I didn't like them in the first place.

Kiedisfan69 08-10-2004 02:59 PM

But there is a good thing with official threads: There won't be 1000 threads about the same band and the same subject on that band. Then again, people will still continue to not read the rules and make threads over and over again anyway. I guess you could merge the threads if they are good enough.

advertising

Evil Clown Liquor 08-10-2004 03:08 PM

I've got a suggestion on how maybe to stop all these new guys from making Top 5/10/20/856 threads. Why not make a sticky Top 5 bands/songs thread, to end all Top threads? That way, if people are curious as to everyone's favorite bands... Whala! It's right there on the first page.

Against Miik! 08-10-2004 04:49 PM

noobs generally don't look at stickies. Everything could theoretically be solved with a stickey, but its just not pratical. As long as mods stay on top of it, they aren't really a problem.

Yes, but as you can see, people still make Metallica threads even though there is an official Metallica thread, when newbs come here they are determined to make a thread on their favorite band, even if there is already a thread about that band.
With all these official threads floating around, people think that they entitled to make their own 'official' thread and this is why i am also not keen of the official threads.

Just wondering...Cos I'm new. I've read the forum rules, and I was looking at some of the links people posted here in regards to those that break the rules. I can understand the advertising and the "best band ever" threads, but I don't understand what was wrong with some of them (besides bad grammar). For example, the Tool thread posted a bit above me.
Thanks. Meanwhile, I really like the site, of what I've seen in the few days I've been a member. :thumb:

Threads like the 'Best band ever' threads are closed because they are done way too often. If you'll notice, that a few times a week there is a 'best...' thread. It's very repetitive and dumb since they are always done. So they are closed.
