I find that the tabs for Like The Angel were kinda wrong on mxtabs .
JMDavis07 01-26-2005 09:24 PM

Twist of Cain-DANZIG-Very Easy
Money-Pink Floyd-Easy if you can play for a long time.

bassist_for_a_band 01-27-2005 03:19 PM

these have probably been mentioned but i've played 'em, they're easy... i only started bass in september but these are pretty easy... they're all I really know at the moment, but we're playin some at the school dance in march

Green Day- When I come Around, American Idiot, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, Brain Stew (most green day stuff is anyway...)
Sum 41- In Too Deep, Motivation, Pain For Pleasure
Blink 182- First Date, I Miss You
The Bouncing Souls- Manthem
The Vines- Ride

that one main riff in Smoke On The Water is so easy.... seven nation army is, too, but that's actually a bass string that he put on the electric guitar.

Random.bass.player. 01-28-2005 12:02 PM

Iron Maiden-run to the hills is v.easy i started it with that and also
Blink 182-I miss you is really really easy.

Random.bass.player. 01-28-2005 05:17 PM

Buzzbomb 01-29-2005 09:36 PM

Anyways...
Bouncing Souls - True Believers (Kinda easy once you get it down and you can play octives)

Shyanel 01-31-2005 08:01 AM

I wouldn't say higher ground and time is running out are appropriate begginer songs to be honest, the timing on higher ground is pretty tough and time is running out has some nasty bits too.

I think you probably found them easy because like you said, you practice a LOT and used to play the gee-tar!

bassdudejay 01-31-2005 12:30 PM

What is a song by the chili peppers that if you can play it, you could be considered an intermediate?(hope that is easy to understand) I just wanted to see how good or bad I am

bassdudejay 02-03-2005 04:34 PM

m-dirnt_fan101 02-05-2005 01:57 AM

a few good and easy songs

greenday-warning-this song will really help with ur timing and if you play this song first before a long practise session it will warm up ur fingers and get u in that "zone" for playing

greenday-boulevard of broken dreams-good song and EXTREEMLY easy to play

greenday-hitchin a ride-2 riffs 4 the whole song

justinjak13 02-06-2005 08:16 PM

mellowship slinky in b major by the chili peppers is one of my favorite songs to play. The intro is easy, but after that ( depending on ur skill obviously) it gets a little tricky, but I have been playing bass since christmas and I can play it( i don't have the complete rythm down) so if you have been playing longer u will be able to play it

iwanttobalone 02-08-2005 06:12 PM
i'm sorry for the proliferation of ramones songs, but dee dee practically taught me my bass rudiments!! lolololol
...i really, really hope you didn't think that was actually THAT funny

anyways, good beginner songs.. hm... although i think eventually theres a point where you start writing your own rather then just continuously learning other peoples stuff, here's some stuff to get you started off and build your confidence up:

Johnny Thunders And The Heart Breakers - Pirate Love (Great song, fun to play, fun to listen to)
Jet - Are you Gonna Be My Girl
Grey Matter - Burn No Bridges
Black Flag - Fix Me
Blink 182 - What's My Age Again
Blink 182 - All The Small Things
The Killers - Mr. Brightside
The Blood Brothers - Trash Flavored Trash
The Blood Brothers - Guitarmy
Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Jet - Cold Hard Bitch
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

those are all REALLY, REALLY REALLY easy and super fun to play, they all sound great too.. and as always are fun to play along to the actual song with

SLManifestoLove 02-16-2005 03:36 PM

Could anyone reccomend some easy base lines from ska bands?

fongofongo 02-18-2005 09:33 PM

most ac/dc songs are easy.
highway to hell would have to be the easiest.

Hardinge 02-20-2005 07:01 AM

Ska Basslines

if u want some good ska bass lines then u should try madness and spunge.

i_am_tim 02-20-2005 03:45 PM

all these are pretty easy and are the first songs i learnt :thumb:

rhcp - parallel universe
rhcp - scar tissue
green day - american idiot
green day - brain stew
ratm - guerilla radio
ratm - wake up
ratm - testify
bouncing souls - manthem
blur - song 2
and most blink 182 stuff

drizzt_fighter 02-24-2005 05:11 PM

White Stripes- Seven Nation Army- Easy
seven nation army is played palm muted on an electric guitar.they dont have a bass player.
You can still play it on a bass.

rockinthebass10291 02-25-2005 04:14 PM

Most of the Good Charlotte tabs are easy... Bloody Valentine has awesome bass tabs.

Rilleman 02-26-2005 05:21 PM

War - Low Rider

LOSBassist 03-01-2005 08:57 AM
Doesn't matter what it was played on, it's still an easy bassline.
If it's not played on a bass, is it technically a bassline?

LOSBassist 03-01-2005 08:59 AM

Blink 182-What's My Age Again
Switchfoot-Meant To Live

Both are easy, but make you feel like you accomplished something.

Zalcentice 03-01-2005 12:26 PM

Scorpions-Winds of Change-Easy
Scorpions-Send Me an Angel-Easy
Metallica-My Friend of Misery-Easy
Metallica-The God That Failed-Easy
White Stripes-Seven Nation Army-Easy
Nirvana-Smells Like Teen Spirit-Easy

Zalcentice 03-03-2005 12:34 PM

Scorpions-The Zoo-Easy
Scorpions-Holiday-Easy
Pink Floyd-Money-Easy

YaNaSdEeP 03-03-2005 01:38 PM

Songs that helped me very much:

Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin
Communication Breakdown - Led Zeppelin
Godzilla - Blue Oyster Cult
NIB - Black Sabbath
Guerilla Radio - Rage Against The Machine(RATM)
Bombtrack - RATM
Bulls on Parade - RATM very easy
Bombtrack - RATM - takes a bit of practice but once you get it its real fun
Testify - RATM - personal fav very simple
Scar Tissue - Chili Peppers

Personally I don't think their is such a thing as "Beginner" songs. Anything you sit down and really work out will come to you in time. Playing bass is all a matter of finger excersize. Once your fingers can move fast enough you'll have no trouble with bass, from, there its up to your creativity.

sum41lova 03-05-2005 01:18 AM

Anything by Blink-182, lol

DJ Redworm 03-05-2005 02:13 PM

Personally i can't stand blink 182 and all this wannabe punk ****. punk died with the sex pistols, black flag, ramones, misfits are still around i think.

Not too mention lately theres too much "punk" and no where near enough metal....we need people to step up and be the next Pantera!!!

as for easy tunes to play
Black Sabbath - Sweet Leaf, The Wizard
Cream- Sunshine Of Your Love
Gwar - Sick Of You
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters, The God That Failed
Rage Against The Machine - Bullet In The Head, Fistfull Of Steel
White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (Stupid Easy)
Pantera - This Love (gets harder as the song goes on)

javaman03 03-06-2005 10:57 AM

The songs that i found easy my first time:

these sonegs helped me alot:
communication breakdown: led zeppelin
Time: Pink Floyd (you might not get it all but the chorus is good.)
Whole lotta love: Led zeppelin

One thing i recommend doing is listening to the song being played by the band on the internet or on cd either before or as you play the song. it helps... really.

   Good luck
