suggestion:

this site has both a reviewing and a music discussion aspect. when reading/posting a comment after a review, comments concerning the musician and the author of the review get mixed up. the author is hurt because he/she has to sort through what is relevant to their review, and the readers are hurt because their conversation about the album/artist is spread out between discussions of possible edits.

i'd suggest having at the bottom of each review a Critique and an Artist button. each one would, when clicked, present with a separate forum/comment log. this way there would be less mixing.

critique would let users comment on the quality of the review, and suggest edits/revisions. also, the album rating would not show up next to the users name, but a X/5 rating of the review would show up instead. before being allowed to rate X/5 for the review quality, they would have to meet a min. 50 char. explanation, kind of like the shoutout system.

under the Artist tab, users would be able to discuss their opinions about the album and artist, and would have their album rating displayed next to their name.

i think this is a pretty good idea, lemme know what the glorious and all knowing mods think.

Two things
a) any death metal bands that utilize a lot of vocal effects (i'm curious)?...
b) anything like 1)gorod 2)burst 3)arghoslent (plz dnt say no one sounds like them)...maybe same approach to musica or something? Thanks

a) Only thing I can think of is Demigod by Behemoth uses a lot of doubling effects that make it sound kinda evil/stupid. The Faceless use some odd stuff at times too and they're worth checking out. Also Between The Buried And Me do some vocal effects at times.
b) That's tough cause they are some pretty unique bands. You might find some good tech death bands that sound like Gorod, but aren't as creative with it. Necrophagist, Gorguts, and maybe Origin.

DBlitz 03-12-2010 04:53 AM

b) 3) there aren't any death metal bands like arghoslent because they sound like 80's heavy metal with death metal vocals. lots of comparisons have been made with manilla road so check them out maybe. also try slough feg, they have some nice RIFFS

Try Emit. The Dark Bleeding and Unknown Presences Whisper both rule imo.

Jaundice 03-13-2010 10:28 AM

Yeah The Dark Bleeding is great. Aaron and Haz you should both get it.

Nepenthe 03-13-2010 02:07 PM

aaron listen to nahvalr its exactly what youre looking for. the whole album was made by a shitload of different people just sending the tracks to each other on the internet and gradually adding more noise and **** to them.

Txus 03-13-2010 02:28 PM
