yeah lets blame 'the lamborghini guy' for the album-that-must-not-be-named and for everything that ever went wrong with the clash!(if there's any beside the album-that-must-not-be-named)
 |
side 6 of sandinista was pretty bad but at least it had real drums. i always leave "the 6th clash album" out of my discography listing. and bernie rhodes is responsible for the glorious beginning and miserable ending of the only band that matters; terry chimes just sucks.

Topper was still with the band when they recorded Combat Rock. I like it alot, and I think its awesome how it starts with "This is a public service announcement... with guitaaaaars!" |
Chimes played on The Clash. He can't be that bad.
On Cut The Crap it was only Simonon and Strummer with 3 other guys. |

I don't like it when people judge the Clash by that album, just because it had some hit singles. Somebody in Westway said that it was the beginning of the end. And to Andy, keep up the good work :thumb:. |
I think its a bad album with a few great songs, eg. Know Your Rights
straight to hell is great great great! You wanna play mind-crazed banjo On the druggy-drag ragtime U.S.A.? In Parkland International Hah! Junkiedom U.S.A. Where procaine proves the purest rock man groove King Solomon he never lived round here! |
And to Andy, keep up the good work :thumb:.
thanks.but it wont be ready soon cause i have to translate everything and i have an history project on the beginning of the punk movement, and i have interviews to do and i'm going to shows...and i try to have a life.but most of the time really, i just sit in my bedroom with my headphones on listening to streetcore and then i come here and post something about the clash. I need a life. |
I mostly liked London Calling and the S/T, I didn't like Combat Rock other than a few awesome songs. Give em Enough Rope. Sandanista!, etc, I havn't heard much about.
I'd like to check out Sandanista! though, does it have anything in it about the acctual Sandanista revolution? |
nothing can beat the s/t us version, except maybe the mescaleros.MAYBE.
i dont know a lot about the revolution, so i dont know. |
i really like Tommy Gun , but not many people like it.

Heya guys, this thread is awsome! I mostly post in the R&M forum, ive got like 3 posts in punk, but The Clash do TOTALLY rock, i mean, i love rock and metal bands and all, but ive only got one poster in my room and its of The Clash - a testament to my love for them, hah.
No but seriously, Jimmy Jazz is the coolest song in the world. "Look like a soldier... feel like a theif!" LOVE those lyrics. lol, i feel like a noob. But i hardly ever talk about the Clash, all my friends think there wired and yea... ^Oh, i like Tommy Gun... i remember walking down a street once, listening to my CD player, and like, it was the last time i was gonna see a good friend of mine, whose house i just left, and i like almost cracked while Tommy Gun was playing. The Clash can have that effect on peopel, hah. /memories. DVG. |
Man, Give 'em Enough Rope is choice. I have a GEER tour poster, I don't think it's original but it's still badass. It's the one with the Statue of Liberty all tied up.
Welcome to the thread :thumb:.
And I think somebody was asking about the Sandinista revolution... all I know is that it took place in Nicaragua, which is in Central America, I think.
I could go into loads of detail about the Sandinistas as I know a lot about them but I can't be bothered to type a lot at the moment so: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandinistas |
Check out this pic of the clash!
Check out strummer! Wax on! Wax off! its not easy being green! |
Paul Simonon smashed his bass guitar - as photographed on the cover of London Calling - at exactly 10.50pm. This is because he broke his watch in the process and handed the busted bits to photographer Pennie Smith
This is scary because strummer left us when he was 50 and talked to simonon on his last night |
