potato bake is elite

I should plan dinner

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 08-16-2009 11:16 PM

ok, lets say 2 page booklet. digipack. normal cd.

potato bake is win

gaslight 08-16-2009 11:31 PM

So that's 2 pages as in, 4 total faces?

In low quantities digipacks are kind of dear per unit, but they're good quality so with enough songs the RRP should be $10 minimum, $15+ for an album easy. If you can give me your e-mail address I'll work you out a proper quote later for a number of quantities, so just let me know a few quantities to work out for you and I'll crunch the numbers :).

Aaron 08-16-2009 11:56 PM
Well again it depends on the specifics, what kind of disc, what kind of case, how many booklet pages, etc :).
I'm thinking standard-CD [redbook compliant length] with the usual style jewel case and 6 or 8 page booklet [3 actual pages of paper] of freakydeaky art within. I like the actual discs to have minimalist art on them and the focus being on the booklet so it becomes a more tactile thing. I'd like to do ultra exclusive runs of my CDs, like 20 of each of my releases. Do I need UPC codes, cause only like two of my twently releases have them registered, lol. Reckon it's feasable?

gaslight 08-17-2009 12:00 AM

Aaron I think I could cover you there. If you aren't set on having really slick finish fancy paper I could do it all in-house for quite a low cost. I could probably work out some kind of package deal for you treating all the releases as a big multi-part order or something. You don't need UPC codes unless you want things to be barcoded for stores or whatever, and most stores just slap on their own anyway. If you're selling things direct from you then they're not necessary. Minimal CD art is a help in keeping costs down because I can factor in that less ink is required. If you want we can sort out some quotes via e-mail also, just hit me up through the myspace to give the contact details.

Aaron 08-17-2009 12:06 AM

Depends what happens in the next few months with me budget wise, but I wanna do a few CDs and put them out through ebay maybe + some vinyl pressings. :) Will hit you up then.

gaslight 08-17-2009 12:15 AM

Haha nice man, have people bid on them?

There's always the direct from you via PayPal method also, let me know if you ever need anything.

sgrevs 08-17-2009 07:48 AM

Aaron I reckon your stuff would sound pretty sick on vinyl.

gaslight 08-17-2009 08:29 AM

Yeah, I think it's the kind of thing that would be suited by vinyl.

gaslight 08-17-2009 10:46 AM

This is a freaking awesome video.

Stoned much?

nevertoolate 08-17-2009 04:40 PM

Hey lads whats news? Havent posted in ages, we had a pet loss last week so I'm a bit depressed atm and the missus is still struggling.

Cheer me up dudes. I've got ABR Architects and PWD coming up on Friday so that'll be good too.

If you read this RunAmok was it you that was going to that gig?

Aaron 08-17-2009 05:37 PM

Sucks when you loose a pet man. A few years ago I buried my 20 year old cat. Was older than both my brothers. Think of the good times. I'd suggest air-guitar also. Can do no wrong with air-guitar, always cheers me up. I'm one for behind the head tapping solos - Mad Skillz.

Yeah I'd love to release my stuff on 45s if I budget permits. Runs of 40 or so of each release. I wrote my 97th and 98th tracks last night. Almost at 100.

That would've been hard esp since you'd had the cat for life. Funny you should say that Aaron, prior to getting these two cats (3 1/2 years ago) we had to put down Susans cat of 21, she was pretty crook. I was holding her as the Vet did the injection, I would strongly recommend people not to do this, it was so awful. Susan was there when they put our boy cat down last week and now she can't sleep and is quite depressed. But yeah life moves on.

btw when did haz get moderation? i hadn't posted since last Tuesday!!

gaslight 08-17-2009 06:20 PM

I miss my cat. Been about ten years. I'll have one again one day.

I got the Paul Dempsey solo album today, the artwork is fantastic.

sgrevs 08-17-2009 07:09 PM

Grab Cowboy Bebop if you like anime.

Aaron 08-17-2009 08:30 PM

Not anime, but The Warriors is amazing. Such a good feel for a trashy 80s gang movie.

Aaron 08-17-2009 09:59 PM

Also, I have arranged a Piņata.

Aaron 08-17-2009 11:54 PM

I've got Flametrees by Cold Chisel stuck in my head and it's making me sad. Can tell I grew up in pubs, hey.

gaslight 08-18-2009 12:54 AM

Great song.

Aaron 08-18-2009 03:26 AM

Yeah it is. Their best song by far, I think.

Hey Gas, a mate of mine's band are looking to get CDs made and I mentioned that I know a guy who does them [ie. you]. He asked me to get a vague quote for CDs, but didn't say what quantity. This is his band: http://www.arcicarus.net/ They're pretty good.

Cool man, I'm happy to do a quote but it's impossible to give any numbers without at least knowing some specifics about the packaging. Ie; kind of case, number of booklet pages at least would be a help.

Aaron 08-18-2009 04:04 AM

That's fair enough. I'll ask him for you.

gaslight 08-18-2009 04:20 AM

Cheers man, if they're not sure what they want, I can give like a full spectrum quote kind of thing. Quantity doesn't have to be expect but like, ballpark kind of figures, whether I'm calculating for 100, 250, 1000 or whatever :). If they have any questions at all I'm happy to help them out.

Aaron 08-18-2009 05:51 AM

He said it's to hand out/sell at gigs, so I'm guessing in the 50 to 150 range.

gaslight 08-18-2009 05:55 AM

Ah yeah.

So, more a demo than an album?
