why dont we make a thread where we get each other's IM screennames so that we can communicate said factoids and musics to each other

Tyler 08-17-2009 11:44 PM

You could try. I have in the past, it usually fizzles out after a few weeks.
also, i'm looking for a really good bass album...the genre doesn't really matter though i'd prefer more modern than oldie...i don't mind if it's a little too showy at times, but i'd rather some super smooth lines and a good fill while playing with the band...and a bass album that's ridiculously over-the-top in its attack would be nice as well
Joy Division

also

Anyone know of some NWOBHM Doom Metal?

I've already got the obvious stuff. Witchfinder General and Pagan Altar.

Ventriloquist 08-18-2009 02:27 PM

Solstice maybe?

pate 08-18-2009 02:27 PM
Solstice maybe?
Seconded.

FatalEnergy 08-18-2009 03:13 PM

I've got them covered, and they're from the 90s.

Really looking for that stuff between 77 and 83 or whatever.

P13 08-18-2009 04:38 PM

DBlitz 08-18-2009 04:56 PM

pig destroyer are easy to start off with and they are really good

pig destroyer - prowler in the yard, terrifyer, phantom limb

P13 08-18-2009 04:58 PM

thanks

DBlitz 08-18-2009 05:01 PM

or ask in the grind thread and the people who reg that thread will post lists of good stuff

P13 08-18-2009 05:05 PM

I'll have to do that. I'm just tired right now and don't feel like checking back later on today

Ventriloquist 08-18-2009 05:24 PM

Assück
Dropdead
Discordance Axis
Insect Warfare
As the Sun Sets
Tower of Rome
Magrudergrind
Parlamentarisk Sodomi

God there are so many. But I think these are good for starters.

Countorus 08-18-2009 06:24 PM

props for parlamentansk, they are great

Moon Flavor 08-18-2009 06:39 PM

I would like to add Agoraphobic Nosebleed's Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope or PCP Torpedo to that list of good grind starter albums

pate 08-18-2009 07:13 PM

The only good grind bands are Napalm Death, Terrorizer, and Brutal Truth.

Txus 08-18-2009 07:18 PM

lol

Moon Flavor 08-18-2009 07:22 PM

Yea AN rules totally forgot about them. Cutting Pink With Knives is another decent band similar to AN.

FatalEnergy 08-19-2009 01:16 AM

Unholy Grave

Meatplow 08-19-2009 01:22 AM

I could use some good straight-up late 80's/early 90's death metal, in the vein of Possessed's Seven Churches or Napalm Death's Harmony Corruption.

FatalEnergy 08-19-2009 02:41 AM

Pestilence - Consuming Impulse

Jotun35 08-19-2009 04:06 AM
orphans of sickness ftw
**** yeah ! :thumb:
But I love "Obscura" too. And I know it's weird but, I'm not into "From Wisdom to Hate". I find it a bit lame : it's a mix between "The Erosion..." and "Obscura", but they are both better than "From Wisdom to Hate", because it's not catchy as The Erosion and not dark and technical as Obscura.
The only good grind bands are Napalm Death, Terrorizer, and Brutal Truth.
And Nasum ! "Inhale/Exhale" is great ! There is also a french band named "Blockheads" which is totaly explosive on stage. Oh ! And Pig Destroyer is good too.

Yep, "Consuming Impulse" is an excellent album, my favorite Pestilence so far.
You should also listen to Vader or Bolt Thrower (which is more mid-tempo death metal). And you can try the old swedish legends : Grave ("Into the Grave" and "Soulless"), Dismember (every fukking records !), Entombed ("Left Hand Path", "Clandestine", "Wolverine Blues") and Nirvana 2002 (the "Disembodied Spirit" demo)... And why not some death from finland : Demigod ("Slumber of Sullen Eyes"), Adramelech and Demilich.

Meatplow 08-19-2009 05:27 AM

sounds good, thanks guys

pretty sure he isn't looking for anything like these bands

Jotun35 08-19-2009 06:26 AM

If someone wants some "good straight-up late 80's/early 90's death metal", I think he'll enjoy that kind of stuff (because everyone knows the american bands of this era : morbid angel, Death, blablabla and I find the european bands sound a little bit nastier).
