twelvegates 09-13-2009 06:01 PM

I didn't say they were slam, anyway. how are those not brutal?

Anthracks 09-13-2009 06:07 PM

because compared to bands that are actually brutal they sound like pansies

Tyler 09-13-2009 06:08 PM

first and only warning: don't argue or nitpick in here. anthracks, even if they aren't 'slam' or whatever he listed two bands and you can easily go from there.

Anthracks 09-13-2009 06:10 PM

im not arguing with anyone im just specifying that those bands aren't very brutal nor are they slam

twelvegates 09-13-2009 06:10 PM

once again never said they were slam.

twelvegates 09-13-2009 06:13 PM

Actually anthracks can you rec me some more brutal stuff then?

Anthracks 09-13-2009 06:16 PM

deeds of flesh

twelvegates 09-13-2009 06:16 PM

cool thanks, i'll check em out.

Si1v3RfaNg 09-14-2009 10:05 PM

Whats some heavy as hell hardcore like Chokehold or Weekend Nachos?

RetiredAt21 09-14-2009 10:06 PM

Su19b.

Si1v3RfaNg 09-14-2009 10:07 PM

Any others man? I'm in the mood for that kind of hardcore right now... ****ing Unforgivable has me hooked.

RetiredAt21 09-14-2009 10:08 PM

The Endless Blockade and Iron Lung are good, too. And Hatred Surge.

nevertoolate 09-14-2009 10:09 PM

you can only go backwards from Weekend Nachos

RetiredAt21 09-14-2009 10:09 PM
you can only go backwards from Weekend Nachos
Not necessarily.

Si1v3RfaNg 09-14-2009 10:11 PM
you can only go backwards from Weekend Nachos
idk Chokehold is currently blowing my mind with Instilled.

nevertoolate 09-14-2009 10:17 PM
Not necessarily.
k learn me some better mah bru

DBlitz 09-15-2009 12:57 AM

yea Iron Lung are sweet

Meatplow 09-15-2009 01:34 AM

so I was just thinking, I sort of like some Rob Zombie stuff (Superbeast, Living Dead Girl etc.) and I do dig that kind of cheesy b-grade movie samples, references, homages thing he does whatever you want to call it.

anyway i'm wondering if there are any acts that do this better, as i've never been a big fan of the Zombie canon as a whole. doesn't have to be metal or industrial, just sticking around that general "horror" theme and is well written, fun, exciting, etc.

FatalEnergy 09-15-2009 02:02 AM

Ghoul maybe

Tyler 09-15-2009 06:13 AM

Zombie Ritual

Txus 09-15-2009 07:53 AM

Blood Freak

Anthracks 09-15-2009 01:57 PM

mortician!!!

tfkmasquerade 09-17-2009 10:16 AM

thousand foot krutch

Meatplow 09-17-2009 10:41 AM

i'll give these a shot, thanks

Deth 09-17-2009 03:45 PM

ignore mortician, this is very important

Meatplow 09-17-2009 03:55 PM

eh, i'll still try it. if I don't like it I won't be listening to it for long

Tyler 09-17-2009 03:57 PM

I'd actually take Deth's advice. Mortician are one of the worst bands in the genre and I'm pretty sure Anthracks is trolling you.

adb 09-17-2009 05:34 PM

need some more Jazz Fusion

stuff like

BPM
Exivious
Gordian Knot
Gunthrie Govan
Kurt Rosenwinkel
Panzerballet

Meatplow 09-17-2009 07:30 PM

Return to Forever
Mahavishnu Orchestra

probably nothing like what you suggested but essential jazz fusion
I'd actually take Deth's advice. Mortician are one of the worst bands in the genre and I'm pretty sure Anthracks is trolling you.
I see, that naughty Anthracks

Txus 09-17-2009 07:42 PM

Also Pat Metheny, Jean Luc Ponty, Al Di Meola, John Mclaughlin, Stanley Clarke, John Scofield.

Nepenthe 09-17-2009 07:45 PM

anyone with even a passing interest in fusion needs to hear return to forever

Six Foot Revolver 09-18-2009 08:11 AM

which boredoms album should i start off with?

Txus 09-18-2009 09:49 AM

Vision Creation New Sun

Which other Flaming Lips albums should I get? I only have Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots

Nepenthe 09-18-2009 12:24 PM

i prefer seadrums/house of sun. the boa drum live album is awesome too, as is the super roots 9 ep.

Txus 09-18-2009 12:37 PM

But I think VCNS is their most accesible album.

Nepenthe 09-18-2009 12:42 PM

yeah its the most conventional but ive never seen the point of recommending accessible albums. its kinda like, if you dont enjoy a bands sound at its most unique, then you probably just shouldnt listen to the band.

either way, its a good album and a good place to start, im just more a fan of the releases i listed

Txus 09-18-2009 01:08 PM

Have you heard the new one?

Nepenthe 09-18-2009 01:17 PM

they have a new album? or do you mean super roots 10? ive heard that yes.

Txus 09-18-2009 01:26 PM

Super Roots 10

**** was so cash

Nepenthe 09-18-2009 01:32 PM

yeah it was great, 9 is my favorite of the super roots tho. at least of the ones ive heard.
