Ben, what are you ending up paying for your new place?
Dunno yet. :) We're not going apartment shopping until June or July, most likely.

What I realistically expect to pay (for the apartment, not per person)? Probably 600-750. If it's much more than that, there better be utilities included, because it'll be out of my girlfriend's price range.

DaveSavesTheDay 04-01-2009 08:58 PM

So you'd be getting a one bedroom then, obviously?

I'm having the hardest time finding a place. Everything is set for me and my good friend to move out May 1st - except for the damn place to move into.

We've probably seen 10 places now and I can assure you at this point I'm not being picky. We've been looking in the 850-900ish price range (for a 2 bedroom) and we haven't had much luck.

We've got one that we're going to see on Friday that was only built 1 year ago, however it's in the top of what I feel comfortable being able to afford at $995 (split two ways, of course). There is another on Saturday priced at $800 but from what I gather the building itself is very old.

Aye, it's so exhausting.

No, it would be a 2-3 bedroom apartment. A 1 bedroom is too small for us (i.e. for all of my shit, haha). Small city here (60,000), so housing isn't as much as it would be in your neck of the woods.

Ah, wow, I wish it were that cheap here.

Right now my buddy is paying $770 for a 1 bedroom.

Something in the heart of the city starts at like $1300 + utilities.

I'm at school, reading up on monster theory so I can put together an hour long presentation for tomorrow.

Spaceman Spiff 04-02-2009 04:12 PM

I've got a show tomorrow. Should be pretty sweet. It's at one of the best small venues in the city. And it will be the highest stage I've ever played on.

What is monster theory?
What is monster theory?
That ghouls and goblins and zombies all exist, they're just hiding.
What is monster theory?
Theories pertaining to what defines monstrosity.

It's fairly complicated, and I don't feel like babbling on about it.

If you're genuinely interested, check out this book (you can probably get it at the library). It's well written, and easy to understand, but there's a lot to monster theory.
I've never heard of it, but that's an absolutely ludicrous price. The most I've ever paid/heard of paying for a full ounce of any weed is $300. The best stuff I've ever had never cost more than that, and I couldn't really imagine anything better than the best I've had.
Average KB, just anything that's not scwag costs a bare minimum of 20 a G, here lately 25 a G. An eight costs me 70 dollars, 140 a quater. So on and so forth.

I can get an ounce of scwag for 60 dollars. Good, decent, smoke a joint and have a nice high scwag. But an ounce of any kind of KB is going to be about $500 here.

Here's it's 20 a G ($25 usually being ATF, White Widow, and GDP), and 60 an eighth ($70-75 for the aforementioned in parentheses).

Tryxx 04-02-2009 05:06 PM

I bought a half oz of GDP the other day. It's been great, and worth every penny. I paid $220... (and I tipped the delivery guy).

BenJammin 04-02-2009 05:07 PM

I've never paid more than $10/g for anything. From crap to great stuff.

Tryxx 04-02-2009 05:09 PM

Well that just makes Canada a strange and wonderful place.

Yeah, GDP is some great stuff. I shared a spliff of some ATF and before we got to the end, I was faded. That stuff has got to be a one-hit bong quit.

Tryxx 04-02-2009 05:16 PM

Myself and two others actually rolled it last night. I was gone. Far and away - gone. It's strange how the high doesn't make me feel that down, but the following day that affect is in full force. I almost couldn't do it if I didn't have today off.

I don't think Canada cares as much about it as the U.S. does. They realize they have bigger fish to fry.

Man, I bet the American economy would end its recession in 3 months' time if they could legalize marijuana. Tax it so that all of the medical growers in California and up the west coast could sell it for $325 an ounce (and onry an ounce at a time) and send the government 20% of the profit. It's not a ridiculous tax, and if it were the same as alcohol - smoke at home, in smoke lounges, etc.- I would definitely pay that extra $25. Marijuana packaging and handling and shipping would create more jobs, grocery and gas station sales go up, and the government would see a great revenue stream.

Sadly, it wont happen for a while, although on cannabisnews.com, it looks like some states are pushing to decriminalize possession of up to an ounce with maybe a small fine if in public or something (exact wordage escapes me).

Yeah, I hardly expect it will be legalized while I'm still young enough to really enjoy it, but I'd like to see it.

Gattsu347 04-02-2009 06:18 PM

california will in the next 10 years, no doubt.
