19. The Misfits
In 1977 a band would change punk forever. This band was the Misfits. Formed by Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only, this band set out to make an impresion...and they did. Although Danzig, the original lead singer, left in 1980, but The Misfits returned in 1997 without Danzig, and with a new member, Doyle Von Frankenstein, and released "American Pshyco. The Misfits have influenced uncountable numbers of bands, all the way from AFI to Marilyn Manson and started the genre we know today as "Horror Punk". by chairman_of_the_board danzig left the band in '84 and micheal graves and Dr Chud were the new members, Doyle was alredy in the misfits since 81. get your history right |

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to guns_of_brixton again. |

Everyone should stop fishing for rep just because they did some blurbs.
imagine how much rep the person who organished the whole pp comp should get! >_> <_< |
This is awesome like a punk band encyclopedia! I especially like The Clash's and the pistol's...does every band justice :thumb:
You should've nominated them.
i would have had i known this thing existed, but im not on here all of the time. DRI and COC both had a bigger impact than a lot of bands on that list, but mainly DRI. DRI were originally the fastest hardcore band ever (and their early work is still pretty much the fastest stuff you'll find in punk) but decided to slow it down a little and put some metal into the mix, and in the process created crossover. they defined this genre on their third album of the same name. COC were another crossover band. their first three albums were pure blazing energy, but after that they didnt make another release until 1991's Blind, which was more black sabbath influenced metal. still, they made a huge impact with their early work and should be recognized for it. |
Well..
Can someone please give me some recommended songs on each of the first 10 bands?
I don't like any of the top ten except the Ramones but for them I would recommend Pet Semetary, 53rd and 3rd, I Want You Around, The KKK Took My Baby Away, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, Too Tough To Die, Beat on the Brat, It's Not My Place (In the 9 to 5 World) and for the classic just about everyone knows, Rock n Roll High School. But that's just me.. :) |
Wow great work everyone who worked on this. I would have loved to help out but the only bands I would have done a decent job with already were taken when I looked. This looks like it took a lot of work, nice job putting this together Brain Toad, it turned out awesome. (31 blurbs? You kick ***)

I am not sure what you wanted to prove by posting that link. |
That just because Anti-Flag are there doesn't mean people like them. They're there because some people nominated them and voted for them.

I'm not exactly happy with all the placings but I didn't expect to be. I think we've got a pretty good selection here.

I like Anti Prefix's blurbs. Even though I don't like all of this list.
