...but...they can't jam

Eliminator 08-10-2007 09:39 AM

everything pearl jam has done sucks.

legalize it is a good album.

mryrtmrnfoxxxy 08-10-2007 09:41 AM

Who's it by?

bwnstl 08-10-2007 09:46 AM

Grunge in general is pretty terrible.

superpeer 08-10-2007 09:47 AM

I'm not a huge Pearl Jam fan, but I love Even Flow.
How has it gotten worse? I'm curious as to what's changed so much. (I've only been here for two years and I've only been posting regularly for a year or so).
Just seems like there aren't near as many good posters around anymore. It used to be for every spam post in R&M, there were 10 good posts. Now it seems like it's the other way around. Disagreements were settled with actual debate, conversation or as a last resort "agree to disagree". Now the slightest little thing results in 15 pages of bullshit flaming and spammage. There's a line between regulars just messing around and all out spamming/trolling and it seems that in the past couple of years that line has been utterly trampled.

edit: MX as a whole used to feel like more of a community. The regulars talked outside of MX, we e-mailed and AIMed and some of us actually called people/met others if we were in the same area. Lots of the "old schoolers" use to do tape trades and such. I know that still happens to a certain extent, but the forum just doesn't have the same feel to it anymore.

superpeer 08-10-2007 09:48 AM

I'll be happy as long as Lunch is around. <3

Peter Tosh

R&M is worse now than it's ever been (since I've been here), I would probably say

That's kinda how the internet is though. It's like that everywhere; I think the internet has just become so saturated that it's hard to have actual constructive conversations/disagreements, especially on a site as heavily visited as this. I dunno.

Yeah it is. I kind of equate it to a small town music store that you go to all the time, hang out, talk to the guys that run it and it's just a generally cool place. Then all of a sudden they get bought out by some huge chain store and it's just not the same.

Lunch 08-10-2007 09:56 AM

There did use to be a stronger group of core users that all seemed really close, but unfortunately years go on, people change, other people leave, some people only come around every now and then, and of course many new users are always coming into the equation.

Ultimately it's just the internet so I'm not going to lose sleep about it

superpeer 08-10-2007 09:58 AM

Yeah, some really cool people left the community thread, probably scared away by the new idiots. >=[

magicbus, kingofdudes, ...? where are they ='(

No I'm definately not losing sleep over it, just explaining why I think it's not as good as it used to be. :chug:
Hey gice, what's the best book you've read in the last year?
Probably Ender's Game, and I wish I'd gotten around to getting ahold of it sooner.

But then I'm not sure whether my reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell was in the last year or not; if it were, it'd be a much tougher decision.

The Man Who Was Thursday was really good, too.

Oh man I love that book. I've read some other ones in the series and they are good as well.

LifeInABox 08-10-2007 10:41 AM

I couldn't get all the way through Ender's Game, but I only read it when I was 11, so maybe I should give it another chance.

Your mind stopped growing at 11 so I wouldn't even bother.

I'm bored.
