he means good metal not crap

PUNKROCK4EVA 06-06-2006 06:21 AM

some idiot said maxwell murder by rancid was a good beginner song:confused: , i'd probably put it in fast and hard but if you want to try, good luck:thumb:

Good beginner songs are anything by Blink 182, theres about 70 songs and their all really easy, you might need a bit of practice on carousel though.

Yield 06-16-2006 12:21 PM

Lots of the songs of of RATM's Rage against the Machine album are easy and fun to play. Bombtrack's intro is fast but it's not hard at all. Some of the songs get repetitve though.

Rogue Six 06-18-2006 10:30 PM

Alice in chains - Rooster is a good song to start out on, The version of it I have is really easy to play.. sounds good too.

Dab the man 06-30-2006 05:21 PM

the mars volta - televators
pink floyd - money (slightly harder song, but a good one)

kingurth 08-09-2006 01:19 PM

Lady Madonna - The Beatles - Easy/Moderate - A fairly easy song, but it involves changing strings a lot. Good practice for fast movement.

PietroCrespi 08-21-2006 06:51 PM

I can't stand Blink 182, but I gotta admit, they're good for a beginner to learn. It works up confidence???

republik 09-12-2006 07:10 PM

i have been playing for like 2 months and found that these were pretty easy to play.

System of a Down - ATWA
Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become
30 Seconds To Mars - The Kill

Playing Blink stuff, for a pick player, helps picking technique and rythm. Marks not an amazing bass player, but he can pick pretty fast and keep time too.

Kamel Teau 01-02-2007 03:06 PM

How about easy songs for an acoustic bass, a buddy of mine got one cheap and wants to try it, wants me to play my acoustic guitar on some songs with him any suggestions, and please don't say blink 182

csyn 01-11-2007 04:40 PM

Are there any easy ones from Propaghandi?
Are there any easy ones from Propaghandi?
Amazing band. Urm.

I want u 2 want me - pretty simple.
Back to the Motor League - aint too hard, just watch the fills in the slow bit.
Antimanifesto - Cool fills at the start, pretty easy to follow, just need the speed.
Showdown and Less talk, more rock are pretty easy. As are Haille Selasse... and Apparently Im a PC facist...

csyn 01-11-2007 10:29 PM

Thanks dude, I' really digging this band lately.

 I can't believe I ever said that. Now I think blink is great. I use Carousel to warm up before shows at my church.
Keep working at hysteria, and the chorus is different to the main riff:

G---5-3h5 (x2)--------------------7 5h7 (x2)
D------------------5-3h5 (x2) ------------------7 5h7(x2)
A-3---------------------------5----------------------------
E----------------3--------------------------5
I got a question: what does 5-3h5 (x2) mean?
I mean, I think it's like:3(then I don't know what the h is doing), and 5, and you repeat those two twice. Amirite?

h means hammer-on.

And hammer on means?
And also, where can I see the tabs(correct term?) for some Red Hot Chilli Pepper songs? So I can see them like:
G:---x--------xxx
D:-------xx------
A:--x-----------x
E:----------x----

Thanks in advance.

And is it just me, or can't you guys neither see tabs on mxtabs.net?

Mxtabs was shut down by the RIAA (I think). There's a link to a letter posted before you login to the forums. The structure is still in tact but you cant actually open the tabs.

If the tab says

G-5h7
D----
A----
E----. You would fret the fifth fret on the G and pluck. Then while the note is still ringing you would fret the 7th fret without plucking.

The best sites for bass tabs are www.ultimateguitar.com or bassmasta.net

also, some good songs for beginners are
Dazed and confused - led zeppelin
7 nation army - white stripes
anything by ac/dc (very easy and boring bass lines)
sunshine of your love - cream, slow and not to complicated
boris the spider - the who

natemurray 03-02-2007 11:15 PM

Well i dont know if this has been posted before but Lustra- Scotty doesnt know pretty easy ^_^ i learned to play it im about 2 hours and im a real novice here good tab for it at www.bassmasta.net

Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots

Kind of hard at first for me but now that I know it it sound amazing, even by itself!

JebRand 04-24-2007 04:36 PM

Giddy Stratospheres By the Long Blondes. really good for learning how to play pushed rythems.

kingcold435 04-24-2007 08:20 PM

Not sure if anyone mentioned:

-Parklife-Blur (easy...my first song...nice easy walking bassline)
-Das Alte Leid-Rammstein (easy)
-rammstein-rammstein (f**king easy as anything)
-Who made who- ac/dc (easy...also good practice for training your ear to hear the pitch changes...also, just a few notes)
-Sell your soul- kill cheerleader (easy)
-back in black- ac/dc (easy...I find ac/dc is good for training your ear to hear the difference between a and e string as williams plays a lot of a
-weisses fleisch(easy-ish) 0030 is the verse on the e...you have to pick up your speed to keep up but otherwise easy
-buck dich (easy/moderate)
-snap your fingers, snap your neck by prong/demon hunter (easy) the tabs you will see call for 3's and 5's every bar. The bass player is actually hitting them 3s choked off every few bars. I'd reccomend just playing open e's. it will be hard to tell the difference. 000 00 000 are the verses and 55 33 (on the e) and then 2 on the a is the song.
-wolt ihr das bett in flamen sehen-rammstein

tabufx50 05-11-2007 05:31 PM

judas priest - any song
U2 - any song

The whole self-titled Rage Against The Machine album is great for getting better as a beginner. Some of the better bass lines for beginners off of that album are: the Bombtrack intro, Bullet In The Head, Know Your Enemy, and Freedom.

Albright Monument Baghdad. The intro has some nice fills.
The only good Fascist is a very dead Fascist. Sweet octive intro
Ska Sucks. Nice bouncy line.

badtaste 07-27-2007 09:39 AM

I'm living on a diet of the Misfits right now:

Die die my darling; Hybrid Moments; Last Caress; Green Hell; Bullet; Dig up her bones; Dust to Dust; Astro Zombies; We are 138.

All good for working on your singing along skills as well.

ROM 08-29-2007 10:08 PM

there are a few by Rush that I found fairly easy if you slow them down.
