Asthetically, yeah, I guess it looks cool. A bit too "Grr, I'm uber goth" for my tastes.

Playing style? Its a Squire, so its like playing an mdf table. Hate Squires.

MrJack 01-29-2006 09:38 PM

For $200, you should get the GSR200.

can anyone give me some good bach cello songs to play? and maybe some tabs. atm im having trouble tabbing cello suite 1.

mayb my bass is out of tune >.<

fingerstyle 02-09-2006 02:17 AM

If you have Guitar Pro, mysongbook.com and other places such as one of stu hamms sites, have a few of the more popular bach movemnts.

also check these out... some are guitar but they're easily usable on bass.

free-scores.com has a few bach pieces in standard notation if u can read that.

karmapavementplan 02-12-2006 09:39 AM

there's a fire - OK GO
- both basically have same recurring riff through song.
Get over it - OK GO

Specialsauce 02-23-2006 04:10 PM

You know, you could avoid having to shift your hand by simply moving a few notes to the A string.

This isn't directed at you, but I can't stand when people do a whole tab like that. You'd have to travel up and down the neck every other note to play it like they tab it, when if you just shifted a couple notes up a string, you wouldn't have to move your fretting hand anywhere down the neck.

tmart937 03-21-2006 11:58 AM

Any song is a beginner song, when you are new to bass!:p
to paraphrase the late great Mitch Hedberg.
NIB Black Sabbath= Power chords
Badge Cream= you look like you know bass
Black Pearl Jam =Octaves

For Beggining Punk/Pop-Punk Bassists:

The Misfits - She, Hybrid Moments, Return of Fly.
NOFX - Eat the Meek, Bob, All Out of Angst
Rancid - Bloodclot, Journey to the End of the East Bay, Time Bomb
Green Day - 2000 Light Years Away, 86, JAR

These are all pretty easy, but also fun to play.

wicked_child 03-29-2006 11:27 AM

try the intro of for whom the bell tolls. my fave when i was a beginner

kingurth 04-21-2006 07:26 PM

I don't know if anyone said this already but...

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (Iron Butterfly): A really easy and fun song to play. It's got one riff that's repeated for pretty much the entire song. The first song I learned how to play on the bass.

Iron Man (Black Sabbath): Easy enough to learn, an a pretty awesome song in general. Great to bust out if you just want to entertain somebody.

Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple): The main riff is incredibly easy to learn. Personally I don't like this song, but a lot of people do and it's easy, so good for beginners.

Chubalubicus 04-22-2006 09:10 PM

Pardon Me - Incubus
is very simple and sounds cool

Roket 04-25-2006 06:05 PM

The Ballad of Chasey Lain - by BloodHound Gang = very easy
4ever - by The Veronicas = very easy
Whiskey in the Jar - by Thin Lizzy = easy

Sound Boy 05-05-2006 06:20 AM

i dont know if its been said or not. but if your just starting out and your trying to get a solid rhythem down off of a song. listen to The Police...when i was learning i always listened to "walking on the moon" and "de do do do, De da da da" etc. and it helped me becomed more strict in my playing instead of going all over the place. not that thats a bad thing in some cases but if you wanna be a good pocket player its something to learn...

also "how many more times" and "rock and roll" by Led Zeppelin..

hobo with bass 05-07-2006 07:42 PM

It depends on your idea of metal. Legion probably wants Zeppelin type stuff.

I heart Ska 05-20-2006 08:45 AM

Are you gonna be my Girl?- By jet was one of the first riffs I learned.

The main riff to Summer lovin' was the first (also really easy).

Anything by greenday.

Anything by system of a down.

RHCP for slap.

Time is running out- Muse (I just love the fuzz)

Bodies by drowning pool as well.

Probably all said before...but there are 23 pages!

HeadbangnPyro 05-20-2006 10:14 AM

The first song I ever learned was Knocking on Heavens door by Bob Dylan, not the most challanging to play, but it's a good start for someone whos never picked up a bass before.

RandyfromPennywise 05-28-2006 07:42 AM

Pennywise - Bro Hymn - Extremely Easy - The first song I ever played on a bass guitar.

Rancid - Journey To The End Of The East Bay - Easy/A bit harder than 'Easy - excellent intro riff to get down when you're a few months in.

NOFX - The Decline - Hard - Great Bass lines, Great Song, And try memorising 18 minutes of a song that has no chorus!
