I do think there is a bit of a kneejerk reaction against Prurient and Merzbow for being "hipster noise" or something. it's a load of crap

Cocaine Death, And Still, Wanting and Pleasure Ground are his best noise-based releases. Time Was Born in a Garden is his best (I mean Prurient more so than just Fernow and any and all industrial-based groups he's been a part of.)

It's not so much that it's hipster noise. I mean, yes Pitchfork and Village Voice cover a lot of these bands but it's more so that their best works are considered their worst and vice versa by these magazines (i.e. Pulse Demon has almost a 9.0 on Pitchfork and it sucks big time.)

I find it best to stick with bands who are more rooted in death industrial and powerelectronics though, because harsh noise often becomes gimmick or boring noise. EAI and Onkyo(kei) are really phenomenal too.

oh and history of aids is nice too. nice for sleeping and i mean that in a good way.

To say Prurient is a "hipster" project is silly. I don't get what is "hipster" about his material?
