they played it when i went to go see them
rody recognized one of the moshers from the show the night before and called him out "yeah, i remember you! you were at our show last night. and this guy was making the funniest fucking hand gestures during pits... like during the part where i say like "bite the hand that feeds" he was biting his hand and running around the pit. do you know what song we're gonna play next?" "....turn soonest?" "oh yeah" |
I'm bruised, hoarse, and I can't hear shit, definitely worth it. And I got to shake dan brigg's hand.
I'm gonna try to pull out that protest show. Also, picked up scurrilous today and in the booklet, "gin" is changed to "djinn?" wtf? I thought music censorship was dead. |

I really like the album 'Fortress' Will have to get around to listening to the rest sometime soon.
|
Scruillous grew on me bigtime. Definitely on par with their old stuff, even without screaming, which I enjoy.
|
still havent really listened to the new album that much. i probably couldnt even name a single song. if this came out in 09 i wouldve been all over it.
|
saw them at the baltimore show. was anyone else there?
highlight was limb to limb. made sure to jump into the mosh pit while that was playing. so disappointed they didn't play tongue splitter they played that stupid sex taps song though arif looked like he had just smoked a few bowls before going on stage. he was smiling the entire time. |
Sex Tapes and Dunsel are my favorites. I tend to skip Tandem/Tapestry/Reign now.
|
That's Arif's expression 24/7, even when he's playing depressing country he's always got this hilarious grin on his face
|
Going to NYC show tonight. WOO.
|
Soooo, just won a contest to meet the guys backstage this Saturday. I'm fucking puuuuuuuumped

you ever been to the ottobar? it was my first time. kinda sucks.
|
Just saw them a little under two weeks ago and it was a great time. I ran into Luke which was pretty cool and they played a great set.
Scurrioulous grew on me a ton and I'd say it's on par with Fortress for me now, even though I kind of miss the screaming. |

a contest to meet them? Don't they just hang out in the crowd? That's how I met them. |

I've been there a good 50 times probably. Before Baltimore got Sonar and Rams Head Live all of the good tours went to Ottobar. They have great sound, it's a little small though. |
new b-side, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0VbUogHhKU
still a few more kicking around |

Yeah I was gonna say when I saw them a couple tours ago he looked excited as fuck the whole time, it was hilarious |

agreed. i definitely love the mustache transformation to the go karts.
|
best part is him pissing in front of jadea and her socking him in the face
|
'she's cold as ice!'
had me laughin pretty hard tbh |
They really hate having to do music videos, don't they?
|
your right, they look like they are having a terrible time
 |
I donno if anyone else was at the show last night, but that was the most fun I've had at a gig in a long time, even if I did get kicked in the head a few times by dorks who can't crowd surf properly.
|
I'm gonna go with Scurrilous is their best album.
|
I'm gonna go with Scurrilous is their best album.
well you're clearly wrong |
I personally like it more than any of their other releases. Kezia is the only other one that comes close tbh
|
I personally like it more than any of their other releases. Kezia is the only other one that comes close tbh
but the lyrics are so horrendous so unforgivably horrendous for me it's fortress > kezia > acuos > scurrilous |
they're honestly not even that bad.
if you wish to see worse im sure it would take less than a second to find something that sucks tn times worse |
yeah, there are obviously worse lyrics out there
but comparing to lyrics i like and comparing to most of the lyrics by most of the bands i listen to and, first and foremost, comparing to older PTH stuff they are insufferable like seriously, a song about the pitfalls of internet source criticism? what are they, ted stevens?? not to mention the repetitions the tedious, embarrasing repetitions |
Riffs > Lyrics
|
riffs are lackluster as well, "fortress" wins on riffs and "kezia" probably wins on overall songwriting
|

Fortress wins on flashy technical stuff. It has some really sweet riffs but the overall cohesiveness of Scurrilous is what puts it ahead for me. I'm generally not a fan of the genre but have always made an exception for Protest the Hero. I enjoy listening to this album as a whole more than the others. |
