they played it when i went to go see them

rody recognized one of the moshers from the show the night before and called him out

"yeah, i remember you! you were at our show last night. and this guy was making the funniest fucking hand gestures during pits... like during the part where i say like "bite the hand that feeds" he was biting his hand and running around the pit. do you know what song we're gonna play next?"

"....turn soonest?"

"oh yeah"

Destructerator 04-18-2011 05:38 AM

I'm bruised, hoarse, and I can't hear shit, definitely worth it. And I got to shake dan brigg's hand.

I'm gonna try to pull out that protest show.

Also, picked up scurrilous today and in the booklet, "gin" is changed to "djinn?" wtf? I thought music censorship was dead.

It was never gin in the first place - the song may be ultimately about drinking, but it's heavily laced with Middle Eastern history and lore.

mkuh brah

Skyway 04-22-2011 09:59 PM

I really like the album 'Fortress' Will have to get around to listening to the rest sometime soon.

Dimmu Burger 04-28-2011 07:36 PM

Scruillous grew on me bigtime. Definitely on par with their old stuff, even without screaming, which I enjoy.

xMalcolmXx 04-28-2011 07:57 PM

still havent really listened to the new album that much. i probably couldnt even name a single song. if this came out in 09 i wouldve been all over it.

beso negro 05-02-2011 07:35 PM

saw them at the baltimore show. was anyone else there?

highlight was limb to limb. made sure to jump into the mosh pit while that was playing.

so disappointed they didn't play tongue splitter

they played that stupid sex taps song though

arif looked like he had just smoked a few bowls before going on stage. he was smiling the entire time.

Destructerator 05-02-2011 10:37 PM

Sex Tapes and Dunsel are my favorites. I tend to skip Tandem/Tapestry/Reign now.

Tyler 05-02-2011 11:38 PM

That's Arif's expression 24/7, even when he's playing depressing country he's always got this hilarious grin on his face

Shattered_Future 05-03-2011 02:28 PM

Going to NYC show tonight. WOO.

TheFantasticDangler 05-03-2011 04:38 PM

Soooo, just won a contest to meet the guys backstage this Saturday. I'm fucking puuuuuuuumped

I had to work, or I'd have been there for sure.

beso negro 05-04-2011 10:27 PM

you ever been to the ottobar? it was my first time. kinda sucks.

CrypticMorning 05-13-2011 11:44 AM

Just saw them a little under two weeks ago and it was a great time. I ran into Luke which was pretty cool and they played a great set.

Scurrioulous grew on me a ton and I'd say it's on par with Fortress for me now, even though I kind of miss the screaming.

a contest to meet them? Don't they just hang out in the crowd? That's how I met them.

Dimmu Burger 05-16-2011 01:31 PM

I've been there a good 50 times probably. Before Baltimore got Sonar and Rams Head Live all of the good tours went to Ottobar. They have great sound, it's a little small though.

Tyler 06-21-2011 05:37 PM

new b-side, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0VbUogHhKU

Yeah I was gonna say when I saw them a couple tours ago he looked excited as fuck the whole time, it was hilarious

Hair-Trigger video is awesome

beans 10-31-2011 03:44 PM

agreed. i definitely love the mustache transformation to the go karts.

Tyler 10-31-2011 03:46 PM

best part is him pissing in front of jadea and her socking him in the face

beans 10-31-2011 03:47 PM

'she's cold as ice!'

had me laughin pretty hard tbh

Benzilla 10-31-2011 06:41 PM

They really hate having to do music videos, don't they?

beans 11-01-2011 01:16 PM

your right, they look like they are having a terrible time

Tyler 06-15-2012 08:02 AM

I donno if anyone else was at the show last night, but that was the most fun I've had at a gig in a long time, even if I did get kicked in the head a few times by dorks who can't crowd surf properly.

666DiMe666 06-20-2012 04:56 AM

I'm gonna go with Scurrilous is their best album.

Pete 06-20-2012 08:47 AM
I'm gonna go with Scurrilous is their best album.
well you're clearly wrong

beans 06-20-2012 11:08 AM

I personally like it more than any of their other releases. Kezia is the only other one that comes close tbh

Pete 06-20-2012 01:35 PM
I personally like it more than any of their other releases. Kezia is the only other one that comes close tbh
but the lyrics are so horrendous

so unforgivably horrendous

for me it's

fortress > kezia > acuos > scurrilous

beans 06-20-2012 02:04 PM

they're honestly not even that bad.

if you wish to see worse im sure it would take less than a second to find something that sucks tn times worse

Pete 06-20-2012 02:37 PM

yeah, there are obviously worse lyrics out there

but comparing to lyrics i like

and comparing to most of the lyrics by most of the bands i listen to

and, first and foremost, comparing to older PTH stuff

they are insufferable

like seriously, a song about the pitfalls of internet source criticism? what are they, ted stevens??

not to mention the repetitions

the tedious, embarrasing repetitions

666DiMe666 06-20-2012 03:19 PM

Riffs > Lyrics

Pete 06-20-2012 03:22 PM

riffs are lackluster as well, "fortress" wins on riffs and "kezia" probably wins on overall songwriting

666DiMe666 06-20-2012 03:25 PM
riffs are lackluster as well, "fortress" wins on riffs and "kezia" probably wins on overall songwriting
Fortress wins on flashy technical stuff. It has some really sweet riffs but the overall cohesiveness of Scurrilous is what puts it ahead for me. I'm generally not a fan of the genre but have always made an exception for Protest the Hero. I enjoy listening to this album as a whole more than the others.
