Is anyone in Cali going to the Kayo Dot house show in Isla Vista/Santa Barbara tonight? If so, punch my local friend for being able to go and hardly knowing the band. They're playing in the garage of the place he's staying at.

A new local band from my city of Spokane Washington just released their first EP and i'm digging it for sure. Very soft at the beginning but picks up at the end! just some really interesting instrumentation I think too. It's free so thats a definite plus also!

Spoon - Girls Can Tell
We Ragazzi - Suicide Sound System

Sketchead 11-08-2012 04:43 AM

Hey guys, thought I'd put this in here rather than starting a new thread. I've been really into a band called 'Alpines' at the moment. Good video of one of their sessions here.

(for vinyl collectors out there, if you comment on the video you will automatically be entered into a draw to win a signed vinyl)

I'm the same, like her voice.

alltimelow 11-23-2012 07:28 PM

terrible digs tbh =[

SugarCoatedSour 11-24-2012 01:24 PM

Not entirely flavorful for my palette...if that's a live version then she keeps up nice, although her voice is kind of husk-y...musically its your cut-n-dry electropop.

Better than the evanescence you've been diggin alltime.

SugarCoatedSour 11-24-2012 01:28 PM

Doleful Lions - Out Like A Lamb
Shudder To Think - Pony Express Record
Texas Is The Reason - Do You Know Who You Are, S/T Ep.

I've been digging Chet Faker lately, it's really good for that chill, groovy feeling, especially if it is sunday morning 10:30 am and the sun is shining inside.
He has made an excellent cover of 'No diggity' (yes, by blackstreet)

Yeah, Chet Faker is great.
I just discovered this singer-songwriter from New Zealand, he's just getting started but definitely has potential. Kinda reminds me of Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver, Ben Harper etc

At the moment:

Chromatics - Chromatics (2012)
One my favourite albums of 2012. An awesome electronic/indie album.

The Sundays - Reading, Writing & Arithmetic (1990)
A brilliant jangle-pop album from 1990. Harriet Wheeler is fast becoming one of my favourite female vocalists ever.

Stereolab - Switched On (1992)
A compilation of the earliest singles and EPs. As good as their albums are I think Stereolab were a better singles and EPs band. Great stuff.
