What exactly is a "medeival chord?" Did certain chords only exist in medieval times? If so, how are SatyriKoRn able to reproduce them today?
Medieval music is actually based on christian chants and its only apport to music nowadays must be notation, but besides that it's no different from music nowadays.

Heh, acutally considering its catholic nature it's dumb to apply it to back metal music, really.

masscows 09-28-2007 03:03 PM

if the end result is badassery, then it's not dumb.

Dargon 09-28-2007 03:04 PM
if the end result is badassery, then it's not dumb.
perhaps, but satyriKoRn is here

(*IMAGINE A LOT OF SPACES AS A METAPHOR*)

and badassery is here

oh look here's King Diamond cool

masscows 09-28-2007 03:06 PM
Thank you captain obvious, I did not know that because it's not like I co-owned an elite-only forum with him for about 2 years or anything.

Easy there, remember, you belong to a "blackened industrial grind death symphonic melodic black thrash" band.
Hahahahaha

TojesDolan 09-28-2007 03:16 PM

Is there such a thing as black metal literature or is most of what I can get from the subject are what I can make up through anti-christian/pagan/something else I haven't thought of literature I can find?

Dargon 09-28-2007 03:17 PM

Lyrics...
(that was for Tojes)

Swim sounds like an asshurt 14 year old SatyriKoRn fangirl.

Dargon 09-28-2007 03:21 PM

...you get that from one post, you idiot
Aren't you Cravinov? I've seen enough of your bullshit on the review site to know that you're a flaming homosexual with an insatiable craving for thick meaty man-sausage.

TojesDolan 09-28-2007 03:22 PM

OK thanks Dargon. I'll have to run a lyrical/norse mythology/anti christian fundaments to complement my research. :/

Check it out everyone, this is the face of black metal.

Or black metal/shoegaze, apparently.

masscows 09-28-2007 03:29 PM

i really dont even know what shoegaze is supposed to mean, i dont like alcest either way though

pixiesfanyo 09-28-2007 03:32 PM
i really dont even know what shoegaze is supposed to mean, i dont like alcest either way though
most of the artists that played shoegaze gazed at their shoes when playing.

TojesDolan 09-28-2007 03:40 PM

very charlie brownesque idk

TojesDolan 09-28-2007 03:59 PM

Anyway, I was watching a documentary on Black Metal by VBS and came across Gorgoroth and I thought "o well I'll give them a try again". I found their first demo and idk it feels insipid.

Dargon 09-28-2007 04:04 PM

You are insipid.

Listen to 0:38 on Funeral Procession and 0:54 on Profenetes Apenbar, both from Under the Sign of Hell. Pure Satan. (note: they're actually quite humorous)

TojesDolan 09-28-2007 04:05 PM

I was talking about A sorcery written in blood.

:o

Txus 09-28-2007 04:44 PM

I just got Clandestine Blaze / Deathspell Omega's split, hope its good.

Angmar 09-28-2007 04:45 PM

I used to really like DSO, but lately I realized how self centered their music is and how pretentious their style can be.

TojesDolan 09-28-2007 04:48 PM

They are good at ambient.

Black metal is about self-centeredness.

Eliminator 09-28-2007 04:50 PM

deathspell aren't good

NemesisDivina 09-28-2007 04:52 PM
deathspell aren't good
true that

Angmar 09-28-2007 04:52 PM

Especially that 80 minute album of theirs, Kenose is probably the best thing they have done, and its probably a 3.5 at best.

Eliminator 09-28-2007 04:52 PM

the drumming on kenose is ****

Angmar 09-28-2007 04:54 PM

I haven't payed much attention to it, the overblown intro on the first track is really irritating, but I do kinda enjoy their vocals from time to time.

NemesisDivina 09-28-2007 04:55 PM
I haven't payed much attention to it, the overblown intro on the first track is really irritating, but I do kinda enjoy their vocals from time to time.
the "overblown intro" is the only thing i enjoy about kenose. everything else is pretty ****ing boring

Angmar 09-28-2007 04:57 PM

Meh, its like 5 minutes of thumping bass and spoken sections, some of the riffs are cool, and it has some cool moments, but yeah a lot of it is boring.

Dargon 09-28-2007 04:57 PM
I was talking about A sorcery written in blood.

:o
I know. I'm telling you to listen to those, because they are simultaneously elite as **** and lulz-inducing.
I just got Clandestine Blaze / Deathspell Omega's split, hope its good.
It isn't.

Niflheim 09-28-2007 05:02 PM

What the **** is so funny about those two parts?

Anyways, that whole album is extremely evil.

rattlehead42147 09-28-2007 05:04 PM
deathspell aren't good
agreed.

Dargon 09-28-2007 05:05 PM
What the **** is so funny about those two parts?

Well the first one is just funny. The second one sounds like he says "AHOY", and it's done in a very piratey voice.

Agreed though, it's the best thing to come out of Norway in the last 15 years (perhaps excluding a certain demoband).

Niflheim 09-28-2007 05:06 PM

Agreed with the second part. I assume it has grown on you then.

NemesisDivina 09-28-2007 05:16 PM

hopefully you don't like the band Rosenguard if you like the band that you're avatar is from...

if you dont know who they are, they're a goth metuhl band that the drummer from the band in your avatar is in...

Dargon 09-28-2007 05:28 PM
hopefully you don't like the band Rosenguard if you like the band that you're avatar is from...
I think the answer to that is obvious. He's in a ton of shitty bands.

NemesisDivina 09-28-2007 05:33 PM
I think the answer to that is obvious. He's in a ton of poopty bands.
that's what i thought.
Haha, "Medieval Chords". What stupidity.
Ever heard of polyphony? And I doubt all these new folk/viking metal bands use real 'viking horns' for keys. It's the fact that it sound's like that era, not that they play exactly like it or on replicated instruments.

Tyler 09-28-2007 05:57 PM

I went to a Medieval music concert, it was in this church. All custom made Medieval era replica instruments and songs.

It sounded nothing like ****ing Satyricon. Drop it.

Angmar 09-28-2007 05:57 PM

WILL YOU PLEASE FUCKING LET IT GO AND STOP DERAILING THE CONVERSATION!!!

Tyler 09-28-2007 05:59 PM

Saying that the instruments and chords are built off Medieval standards is a ****ing cop out, too. It's not an argument.

Have you even listened to any of the song DMT, you're telling me that those acoustic breaks do not sound medieval? And this church show, they played medieval black metal?
