So who's heard the Syncope Threshold? I randomly acquired an album by them the other day and WOW I've never heard a band so blatantly rip off another band before.

I kinda like them. Getting their album now. :)

Jev 11-07-2009 05:42 AM

If somebody tells me a band are like PTH they usually suck.

They're alright, sounds majorly like Kezia-esque PtH, though more growls.

gocsa666 11-07-2009 10:53 AM
What do you mean you wish they worked more on the third album? They have been working on it. They're writing it.
I know, I know, but they seem so busy if I just look at their touring schedule, and now there's also that side project with Rody and Tim.. it's all good, I just don't know what's their writing method's like and how fast they can write songs THAT good:) I don't want the new album to sound like it was rushed or built up from stuff they've already used on their previous 2:)

gocsa666 11-07-2009 10:54 AM

Also, I can't wait to hear if they wrote some slower songs :D I think Tim said somewhere that they're gonna slow down things a little bit or even get a bit more commercial.. and I wouldn't mind that.

Tyler 11-08-2009 09:13 PM

Dude, Tim and Rody's side project is a joke. It's not like it's taking time away from the band. And the fact that they're touring Fortress from start to finish now should tell you that they're ready to move on.

Benzilla 11-08-2009 10:23 PM

I wonder if that means they'll bring a keyboard for Luke so he can play the piano codas.

Tyler 11-09-2009 10:13 AM

Syncope Threshold is a mess. Fun parts, but pretty sloppily written songs.

Also, Tim recently posted a Myspace blog that said after these upcoming Christmas shows, they'll be focusing on the new record and won't have another show until it is FINISHED. Wooo!!! Any more info on the new record, Cocaine?

worst thing ive seen in my life
My god, where did Tim's beard go
Thats what I wanna know.

Tyler 11-18-2009 04:01 PM

he shaved it months ago for charity. If you think he looks weird without the beard you should see his rat tail.

also, I thought the video was actually pretty funny. I mean, it's clearly a joke and it's clearly terrible but at least it's marginally entertaining. Nobody gives a **** about music videos anyways. But come on, back-up dancers and a bunch of quick cuts to canons? Rody's clearly make-up-assisted goatee? Arif as the indian? Chris Wynne being in the video for no reason? I donno, I thought it was at least kind of clever. Not that I'd want to watch it again, ever.

this

Anthracks 11-18-2009 05:24 PM

it's probably better as a serious video than a "funny" one to be honest

Tyler 11-18-2009 06:09 PM
When i think about it, The Syncope Threshold is perfect competition for Protest. the two of them go hand in hand.
yeah only Syncope Threshold can't write a coherent song and all of their best parts are blatantly plagiarized from either Protest or Between the Buried and Me

yea i agree, it was funny

Apoc 11-19-2009 02:34 PM

Coke you're just hatin'. I'm listening to Syncope Threshold right now, it's not that bad

Tyler 11-19-2009 07:51 PM

2.5/5

beso negro 11-19-2009 08:42 PM

i haven't listened to The Syncope Threshold but more bands should rip off protest. it's a cool style. personally i wish rody would growl much more but maybe he's afraid it will ruin his voice.
http://www.metalsucks.net/2009/11/18/exclusive-video-premier-protest-the-hero-limb-from-limb/
i like it

Tyler 11-19-2009 09:14 PM

He probably will keep growling more. He does it properly, so it won't ruin his voice. Plus if he was worried about that he wouldn't smoke so much.

Benzilla 11-19-2009 11:22 PM

Did that laser treatment work? I doubt it.

Jev 11-20-2009 03:13 AM
haha, i guess everyone's got an opinion. personally, i love their album.
They're alright. The only song that I thought was really good was the last song on the album.

Pheenix 11-20-2009 04:15 PM

I like them a lot. Though they are not in my top echelons.

Jev 11-21-2009 10:27 AM

I'm not sure about the trumpets, its called Alone in the Addict.

Not really listened to it enough to give it a rating but I'd say 3/5 atm.

feav233 11-21-2009 11:40 PM

i decided to listen to fortress again, eh, the vocals prevent me from gettin into this album/band, i think some of the riffs are pretty cool though

The Feeding 11-21-2009 11:53 PM

get the instrumental version but, Kezia is a better album IMO

feav233 11-22-2009 12:02 AM

yea, i keep meaning to check out kezia

I thought the vocals were kinda whiny when I first listened to these guys, but now he is one of my favorite singers. Give him a few more listens.

alytee123 11-22-2009 01:05 PM

I was exactly the same at first, but now I'm really fond of the vocals.

FigNewtns 11-22-2009 01:43 PM

Sunflower Avenue is so upbeat. can't get over how catchy that intro is.

yea, thats what i thought about it, but i'll give it a couple more listens, still think i'm going to try to get the instrumental album though, i imagine that if the vocals don't grow on me i'll still enjoy the instrumental

Tyler 11-22-2009 11:23 PM

stop talking about syncope threshold

Tyler 11-23-2009 04:39 PM

They haven't made it to the studio yet for this new album. Still writing/rehearsing.

masscows 11-23-2009 04:41 PM

any hints as to what it sounds like yet?

beans 11-23-2009 04:45 PM

proabably a lot of awesome

Tyler 11-23-2009 09:06 PM

Started following them in the Spring of 2003, and they used to play pretty much weekly (sometimes a few times a week) so I saw them often. Eventually became casually acquainted with some of the dudes in the band.
