Benzilla 10-14-2009 04:30 PM

Cheddar Cheese and the Mouse Trap has a merch store now: http://www.cheddarcheeseandthemousetrap.bigcartel.com/

Seriously?

Tyler 10-14-2009 04:39 PM

FYI, the Cheddar Cheese and the Mouse Traps tour is actually an opening gig for Barry Taylor, so it's legit.

Heh, that's actually cool. I've heard Taylor's a surprisingly good standup.

I'd go, if they were hitting Toronto.

Tyler 10-15-2009 02:25 PM

Barry Taylor is great, one of the few people who've been affiliated with the Edge that I actually have any respect for (him and Strombo, basically). I dont know much of his stand-up, but I do know he has a twitter dedicated exclusively to bad punks. He also posted a very, very revealing blog about his time with the Edge. Plus he's a surprisingly knowledgeable Raptors fan.

Tyler 10-23-2009 09:04 AM

Randomly went to Hamilton last night. Saw Cheddar Cheese and the Mouse Traps. It was better than I expected but still more or less what I imagined. They played about 6 songs. First one was about the Saw series of movies, kind of a poppy-punky song with random huge breakdowns. Also played an improvised (at least lyrically) song about puppies and kittens, a song about how Rody wants to join the Jonas Brothers since Kevin is getting married, a GG Allen cover about pissing on the crowd, an 'acoustic' love song to Beverly Crusher (with an awesome reference to her NCC-1701 Double Ds) and a punk version of the Pro-Smoking Cigarette Song. It was enjoyable. The Saw song was the best though.

The whole night was, actually. Barry Taylor was surprisingly funny and Gavin Stephens performed too, and he's awesome. Some of you guys might remember him from Buzz.

Surprisingly worth ten bucks.

I just watched a couple of tracks on the Colors_Live DVD, the next PTH live set has something to aspire to.

Also, Tommy Rogers' hand gestures are incredibly grandiose.

Klekticist 10-26-2009 08:33 PM

yeh, tommy enjoys the arm motions...

funny thing is he sounds exactly the same live as he does in the studio... harsh vocals at least.

Tyler 10-26-2009 08:37 PM

if you mean below average then yeah, i agree

The Feeding 10-26-2009 08:42 PM

I never understood everyone blowing it over his vocals, they are nothing outstanding

Apoc 10-27-2009 12:40 AM

haha yeah tyler I honestly don't get why everyone hates on the vox

Tyler 10-27-2009 12:44 AM

Referring to Tommy...I just said they were below average.

Either way, wrong thread for that.

Apoc 10-27-2009 01:10 AM

True

More on topic I'm really looking forward to new material from PTH. When Gallop Meets the Earth first got announced I got super excited, then almost immediately let down by the release haha.

The Feeding 10-27-2009 10:37 AM

I've never been a huge fan of live albums

Tyler 10-27-2009 02:03 PM

The live album is pretty good, but the DVD is a bit of a mess.

The Feeding 10-27-2009 02:07 PM

that doesn't make much sense isn't it the same backing track on both? or are you talking the DVD footage itself?

Tyler 10-27-2009 02:09 PM
that doesn't make much sense isn't it the same backing track on both? or are you talking the DVD footage itself?
The audio is actually a bit better and different on the CD, but I was mostly referring to the DVD's editing. Apparently something got hitched in the making of it and they did their best to salvage it but there are just way too many quick cuts and after-effects.

The Feeding 10-27-2009 02:11 PM

I might check it out on YouTube, finally watched Colors live on there last night

duma87 10-27-2009 03:26 PM

So did they finish writing the new album, or is that still a work-in-progress?

The Feeding 10-27-2009 03:27 PM

work in progress

Tyler 10-27-2009 03:35 PM

They're still writing but I'd imagine they're not far off. No studio work but I know they've got demos.

Pastorius 10-27-2009 05:48 PM

woooooo protest coming to britaaaaaaaaaaain supporting propaghandi

Jev 10-27-2009 05:55 PM

Already got my tickets for that

gocsa666 11-06-2009 11:29 AM

So I've heard they're going to play Fortress in its entirety on some of their tour stops.. not saying it's a bad thing but they were already playing almost the whole thing in the past two years.. they should bring back more Kezia material.. also, haven't they toured enough? Much bigger and older bands with 10+ albums tour for this long and it's not like PTH has such a wide range of songs to choose from or to vary from tour to tour.. I'm just bitching cause I wish they worked more on the 3rd album so we wouldn't have to wait for a year..:) Also, there's no chance I'll see them live again before the next album comes out (I live in Hungary) :)

Ventriloquist 11-06-2009 12:32 PM
I've heard they're going to play Fortress in its entirety on some of their tour stops
They're going to play bone marrow live :O

Tyler 11-06-2009 02:14 PM

What do you mean you wish they worked more on the third album? They have been working on it. They're writing it.

Apoc 11-06-2009 04:58 PM

The thought of how good their third album might be gets me aroused.

beans 11-06-2009 05:02 PM

they have a lot to live up to

alytee123 11-06-2009 05:45 PM

Could end up shit y'know. Hope it doesn't.

Dimmu Burger 11-06-2009 06:18 PM

It's about time they did something new I think. Pushed further. But not too far. Just far enough. :)

Apoc 11-06-2009 06:25 PM

I'd like to think it's not gonna end up shit. Even though I recognize the possibility

beans 11-06-2009 08:52 PM

50/50
