Sender Receiver is good, especially for being borne out of Knoxville.
I'd have to say I'm pretty partial towards From Citizen To Soldier. I'm also biased because my cousin Chaney does vocals, and she ****ing destroys. Her boyfriend also plays guitar, the rest of the dudes are actually from Cedar Falls. www.myspace.com/fromcitizentosoldier Other than that, there's really not much talent around here...its always been kind of suffocating here. I do graphic work for many local bands but none of them I can stomach listening to on a regular basis. |
Sender Receiver are pretty generic.
|
I think he was just referring to the acts in my part of central Iowa, not representative of any genre or region.
Unfortunately, there is next to nothing to choose from. It is generic, but at least they do a decent job at imitation, and their recording quality isn't complete **** like most of the other people that call themselves "bands" in this area. |
Returners needs to hurry up and leak.
|
man havent listened to Symphony In Peril in ages......****ing rules
|
YOUR MURDERRRRR, MURDERRRR FACE TO FACE
gunna have to put that on now |
I didn't know Jesse wrote lyrics on Mirrors. That's neat.
|
I know who FCTS are, I find them kinda boring and generic. Especially with the 2 vocalists thing, and for the record I'm a big SR fan. Their new stuff is amazing
|
FCTS has one vocalist, my cousin, thats it, I assure you.
Might have been different quite a while ago as the name has been used for a while, but they also have different guitarists now. And their drummer is just as good as Lucas. There's not anything that SR does that's special, but I'm not sure if I've heard their new stuff or if it was old. |
holy ****, i'm really kicking myself right now... I finally looked up Prayer For Cleansing. And i feel like a total ****head for not listening to them earlier, because this is amazing.
As far as Misery Signals, I like them more than 7a7p, and the first half of Controller blew. Up until A Certain Death anyways. |
I like Controller, musically. Just Karl's robot vocals, ugh.
|
His vocals are kind of suck. Idk, I just couldn't get into some of the riffs in the first half, and the production sounds a bit robotic as well. to me, anyways
|
His vox were good on mirrors though.
Just don't like what they did on the first half of controller. |
I think Karls vocals on Controller sounds simply monstrous. He replicates it perfectly live, also.
|
toot toot converge/coalesce and others in an hour
gaza, black breath, and lewd acts might be fun, but ugh i wish harvey milk was on this part of the tour |
Monstrous is a good word to use for his vocals, maybe not so much on Mirrors but definitely on Controller.
He has a quality to his voice that's kind of hard for me to describe, the texture is very coarse but he can maintain clarity at such a low, and it gets an abrasive quality you have to feel in person to really appreciate. The production on Controller is almost painfully 'clear' in the first half, but it definitely displays his vox well. The overwhelming emotion and intelligence that Zaraska could put into his lyrical content and his performances are something I just haven't seen from Karl, yet. They're just different. They just played their first show like 7 months or something, so I hope they spent that time well writing. |

yeah I dld it, but haven't listened. I liked his harsh vox on previous efforts but their cleans were average. I plan to listen sometime this week, idk |
New Counterparts is legit.

for the most part yeah
The overwhelming emotion and intelligence that Zaraska could put into his lyrical content and his performances are something I just haven't seen from Karl, yet. They're just different.
this |
so based on their new song mychildrenmybride have learned nothing and are going to release a boring as hell, by the numbers cd.
|
A lot of bands are sticking with that formula these days.
|
mirrors is better than controller. js.

This thread. :/
mirrors is better than controller. js.
I would agree but there are three reasons that keep me from doing so.The production on Mirrors was terrible, the last three songs on Controller are pretty much the pinnacle of the bands career, and the album as a whole flows together perfectly. Mirrors does have better single tracks though. |
Yeah the production on Mirrors is pretty bad, especially since the prior album sounded awesome.
